Futures, Integrity Blues, Invented, and Chase This Light are all fall albums for me. Generally, I listen to JEW most in the fall.
Last night, Jim said since it was the last night of the tour they would play a little extra. I'm looking back at the setlists from shows prior and by God, they did play 5 more songs than usual
This was the 3rd time for me. Got lucky! They played a ton of my favs that I had never seen before: Futures, Kill, Polaris, Dizzy. Oh and they played Love Never, which was a ton of fun!
I’m so bad at song names but if and when they played a longer intro, I knew the song and could sing it. It was driving my friend nuts. Haha. I’ve probably seen JEW more than any other act. Every LA show since 1999 I think. Always consistently the best live show. Also loving the CTL love in here. I feel it gets written off but it’s easily one of my favs.
Probably a hot take and it somehow doesn’t translate as well live as I would have hoped but I think “Always Be” is their best single. It’s got this “I can’t believe a band I love this much wrote a song this good” quality to it I can’t quite put my finger on.
Always Be is one of their best songs and I agree it doesn't translate nearly as well live. Same goes for Kill unfortunately. There's just something so special about those songs that it would be almost impossible to capture that certain quality that they have on the albums.
I’m listening to Damage right now and damn is this a fine album. I dare say it may be my favorite in their catalog (...I know that’s a bold statement).
Agreed. Invented took me the longest to get into and I think it was because he was so open about the lyrics not being directly inspired by life but rather photos in a book - but it’s fucking great still.
I think I’ve reached a point where if I had to choose a “desert island discography” band, it would be Jimmy Eat World.
Integrity Blues still has one of the healthiest resolutions to a Divorce record I've ever heard... I remember being so bored by Pol Roger but now whenever it comes on I can't turn it off. Also, I've never heard a more Autumn-time album than that album, like fucking jeez.
I love the bittersweet vibe of integrity blues. I feel like that's what I hope for at this point in my life lmao like not even lasting love but if it doesn't totally blow up in my face and we don't walk away hating each other then it's goals
The line from Through "Keep in mind, there's a big difference between letting go and running away." has stuck with me since 2016. Along with a lot of lines but especially that one.
I think I feel more this way about Damage. Integrity Blues still though has a similar vibe in some degree(for me). Like you're having to walk away from the relationship because it's not what it once was and never will be again. You wish each other the best, it hurts, but you both have to move on. You leave the coffee shop as the sun's setting through the windows casting warm yellow and gold light. You see a single tear run down her face for the last time. --INTEGRITY BLUES-- Dammit I'm crying again. THANKS aLOT Jim......
my vinyl pressing of Bleed American has Splash Turn Twist but not No Sensitivity and it fucks me up every time also Splash Turn Twist always startles the shit out of me right after My Sundown because you know I have that outro turned all the way the fuck up
