Shame is excellent in my opinion and up there with Be Sensible, Open Bar Reception and Roller Queen as my favorite non-album tracks, but it’s still no The World You Love.
Yeah "You" and "shame" are the 2 Futures b-sides I like and they still don't really hold up against any of the album tracks
"Nothingwrong" is fine, but a tad generic. "Night Drive" is one of their best produced tracks, and a better match with the feel/theme of the record.
The way Jim sings A needle in echo groove You pierce my heart like a willing arm Your ticking makes my blood move There's no way out this fade out Be happy to get what you do Make him notice with both fists 'Cause quitting alone will never get you dry Makes that song for me
Yeah, totally agree. While I still like Nothingwrongj, it feels like it was made for a different, more aggressive record. Night Drive fits the record way more (and is a better song).
I feel like the album benefits from having one more harder song towards the end, and in that sense Nothingwrong serves a pretty good purpose.
Kill Pain The World You Love 23 (The fact we will lose Futures this early is killing me) Polaris Nothing Wrong Just Tonight (this one was the hardest. Night Drive is great but JT is my girlfriend's favorite JEW song so it means a little more to me) Work
I don't mind Nothingwrong. I kind of like the mood it adds to the end of the record. But "Night Drive" really captures the feeling that the cover art evokes for me
I just hate when the opening track is my favorite. Even if I like the rest of the album, it already peaked for me in that first track. That sucks. For me Future is nowhere near my favorite on here, but it’s great. I can’t think of an example, but there have been a couple albums where I loved the opening track the most and the rest just didn’t live up to it.
My fave song literally never wins any album rounds haha and I'm sure 23 will win this one but my support is 100% behind Polaris!!
Some of the best songs of all time are opening tracks. It doesn't mean the rest of the record can't live up.
