Love this idea. 1. "Table for Glasses" (With "Big Casino," "Futures," and "Thinking, That's All," this was tough) 2. "Rockstar" 3. "Always Be" (Having to choose between this and "Work" literally killed me) 4. "Believe In What You Want" 5. "A Sunday" 6. "Hear You Me" 7. "12.23.95" 8. "Littlething" ("No, Never" is a close second here though) 9. "Chase This Light" 10. "The Authority Song" 11. "23" ("Blister," "My Sundown," "Dizzy" goddammit why?!) 12. "Mixtape" 13. "Goodbye Sky Harbor" (Duh) Some of these were really easy, some were really not. 5 from Clarity, 2 from Chase This Light, 2 from Bleed American, 2 from Invented, 1 each from Futures and Static Prevails.
there were a lot of Damage cuts that I really wanted to put in, mainly Appreciation and Please Say No. track one and track 11 were the hardest picks for me. those positions have some tough competition. also sad i couldnt fit any Static Prevails cuts in but i just couldnt justify putting those songs over some others.
Honestly, every Damage song didn't stand a chance here for me. Obviously, that's not indicitive of the album itself. However, the album hasn't held up as well for me as any of this band's other albums (mind Static Prevails). Still a really good album though.
Those two songs make up my favorite opening/closing duo of all time. Other duos come close, but not only are those two my favorite JEW songs, but they're among some of my favorite songs ever. They mean a lot to me.
1. Futures 2. My Best Theory 3. Always Be 4. Kill 5. The World You Love 6. Crush 7. If You Don't, Don't 8. Polaris 9. Just Watch The Fireworks 10. For Me This Is Heaven 11. Invented/23 (this one is just not fucking fair and I refuse) 12. Clarity 13. Goodbye Sky Harbor
Damage used to be my favorite when I first got into the band. Now, Futures, Clarity, and CTL outplace it, while it ties with Bleed American, but I still am very fond of the record. Any JEW record could possibly be my favorite of a band's discography if it was released by another band, really. The only thing better than a JEW record is another JEW record.
Damage is better than life itself... Though if I were to rate each album it would be: Damage - 10 Invented - 9.9 Chase This Light - 9.8 Futures - 9.7 Bleed American - 9 Clarity - 9.6 So really just everything is fantastic.
Wasn't Damage pretty split on AP when it released? I remember every comment thread I looked at for new music saying something like "Nothing will be beat Damage this year" or "At least it can't be as bad as Damage".
Oh, geez. Let's give this a whirl. 1. Bleed American 2. Let It Happen 3. Evidence 4. Book of Love 5. The World You Love 6. Episode IV 7. If You Don't, Don't 8. Polaris 9. Just Watch the Fireworks 10. You Were Good 11. Invented 12. Clarity 13. Goodbye Sky Harbor That was too hard. And I could switch most of them out for others and still be just as happy with it. All JEW is good JEW.
oh ok 1. Futures 2. A Praise Chorus 3. Evidence 4. Kill 5. The World You Love 6. Episode IV 7. If You Don't, Don't 8. Polaris 9. Just Watch the Fireworks 10. For Me This Is Heaven 11. Invented ...okay this was painful. my two favorite JEW songs are track 2s so Just Tonight was left out because A Praise Chorus is my favorite song of all time. also i just found out i like Invented more than 23 now.
Fun game. Futures killed everything else for me, though. I had the title track at 1 for awhile, but it was my fifth Futures song and then I saw how much this thread was underrating "Disintegration." 1. Disintegration 2. Damage 3. Always Be 4. Kill 5. The World You Love 6. Coffee and Cigarettes 7. If You Don't, Don't 8. Polaris 9. Chase This Light 10. For Me This Is Heaven 11. 23 "Mixtape" is good, but it has no business coming after "23." The other way around, I might have included both.
1. A Heart is Hard to Find 2. Lucky Denver Mint 3. Work 4. Kill 5. The World You Love 6. Hear You Me 7. If You Don't Don't 8. Littlething 9. Cautioners 10. Firefight 11. Dizzy 1, 2, and 5 were the hardest.
Exactly my ranking, too, although i'll admit i don't know enough about the last 2 to distinguish them. What an amazing band.
Although i miiiiiiiight like Chase This Light more than Static Prevails, but the best Static songs are better than the best Chase songs... besides Always Be.... damn, tough one.
