This is most definitely a sad album lyrically, but in a lot of ways, I find comfort in a lot of the lines, such as the "Big Casino" moment "There some living left when your prime comes and goes" and the extravagant bridge from "Dizzy"
Highly, highly recommend Chase This Light. For me, it's them doing everything they do best in one place. It packs a pretty large punch
Not to be hyperbolic, but to me, everything post-Static Prevails is amazing. And I like most of that record, too. This is a band where I can just throw on the whole discography and never hit skip.
Futures is such an important album to me. it has carried me through some dark, lonely times in my life. "23" and "Polaris" are two of my favorite songs. I caught their Futures 10 year tour in Boston a year and a half ago, and to date it has been my all time favorite show that I have ever been to. That being said, I love pretty much everything this band has recorded and released. Invented took me a while to appreciate but once i did, I grew to love it just as much as everything else. Bleed American, Chase This Light, Clarity, and Damage are all wonderful.
Bleed American is basically flawless. Probably in my top 10 favourite records of all time. Clarity might well be in my top 20.
There was a talk about best one-two punches in their catalog in the last thread. I'm partial to "Work" into "Kill" (or "Kill" into "The World You Love," frankly) and "Invented" into "Mixtape." There are so many good ones, though.
Futures --> Just Tonight... but also I think that Polaris --> Nothingwrong --> Night Drive --> 23 is the best 4 song stretch in the catalog.
I'd consider it if track 4 wasn't a cover. Although Half Right is a great one, Firestarter remains my favorite JEW cover to date.
Big Casino, Let It Happen, Always Be, Carry You & Dizzy are all amazing. CTL is horrifically overlooked imo, and actually my second favourite after Futures.
"Nothingwrong" being the default worst song on Futures doesn't help that run, but it's still a great one.
As much as I love everything off Futures and it's my second favorite record of all time, I think my favorite 4 song stretch from the band is "12.23.95" -> "Ten" -> "Just Watch The Fireworks" -> "For Me This Is Heaven"
