this monday just got way better


i think its time i go through the entire JEW catalog because its been a while

 

on the topic of under-rated / under-appreciated JEW tracks... ELECTABLE (GIVE IT UP). So under-rated. the bridge is sooo sooooo good.

I also need to go through JEWs discography again, starting with Static. I cant think of a band who has put out as many albums i love as JEW. (maybe Thursday and or Thrice tho... but thats just in terms of putting out a ton of incredible records. JEW is goat.)

 

Feeling Lucky is the best track 7 easily

 

A lot of Jimmy Eat World's deep cuts/b-sides are some of their best songs IMO. Open Bar Reception, Shame, Anais (demo), etc. All amazing tracks.


Edit: alllso, a pretty credible guy from the JEW subreddit who is in contact with the band says the album is finished, currently being mixed, and could be released anywhere between the back end of this year and next summer depending on the band members' busy schedules.

 

damn, just realized track 7 is my least favorite Jimmy track number. i don't think i love any of their track 7s. would have to go If You Don't, Don't > How'd You Have Me = Drugs or Me > Stop = 12.23.95 = Digits > Feeling Lucky.

 

Second best is Drugs or Me, then probably How'd You Have Me. If You Don't, Don't would actually go low on the list.

 

I think Dizzy is my favorite JEW song. I don't even know anymore. I love it all.

12.23.95 or If You Don't are my favorite Track 7s tho.

 

Drugs Or Me is my favorite track seven, for sure.

 

"Feeling Lucky" is maybe my fifth favorite track 7. I still like that song, but it's bottom three on Chase for me.

 

I'm guessing it will be fall. I can't see them sitting on a finished album for a whole year.

We all know JEW is great at closing their albums, but I think they're just as great at writing openers as well.

I've been balls deep in the Blink thread since the leak, time to venture out to some other threads - what more fitting than the JEW thread!

You know what track I heard the other day on my iTunes that I haven't spun in awhile? The Drugs or Me (styrofoam remix)...not as good as the original but shit I forgot how much I liked that remix!

 

First time in the JEW thread here. This band was probably my favorite band for a solid three years or so in high school, so I'm very partial to their stuff.

My ranking:

3. Bleed American
4. Static Prevails
5. Chase This Light
6. Invented
7. Damage

Also, the best track 7 is "12.23.95." C'mon, people.

Also wanted to say that I listened to Chase This Light all the way through today for the first time in years and that record has aged pretty well, I think. Still get all misty-eyed when I hear "Dizzy," especially after having the rest of the record come before it.

 

So this was a fun game we used to play on AP, specifically in the TBS thread: making your perfect JEW album from the assorted track numbers. So, for example, you pick your favorite track 1 from each of the JEW records and then your favorite track two and track 3 etc. so I'll start to give everyone an idea of what it is, but I'm sure many of you remember it.

Choosing between Dizzy and 23 was brutal, but I went with Dizzy because I love Chase This Light and needed to represent it somewhere on here.
