Yeah I think the production on Damage works to the album's benefit. There isn't a lot of layerd and lush instrumentation going on on that record that polishing it up wouldn't really add anything to it if you ask me. I think the production adds to the stripped back nature of the album both musically and lyrically.
I wonder if I can get through the discography by the time I see them Sunday. I've only heard Bleed American, Futures, and Invented
Futures for me. Wish the album was longer with the Stay On My Side Tonight tracks included on it haha. Chase This Light is second for me followed by Integrity Blues. I struggle with placing the rest after those 3.
At one point, @Craig Manning made a full length SOMST with some of the other Futures/Chase This Light era b-sides, and it was pretty incredible.
i aim to please remember that time we ranked every single JEW song lol. btw i still love this and have it in my library as this
Yepppp. Haha, I wonder how that ranking holds up. I haven't looked at it in awhile. Spun Integrity Blues for the first time in awhile this week and I still love it. As we get closer to fall, I think that album is going to go back into regular rotation.
Futures is still my favorite by a long shot too. Nothing is gonna dethrone that for me I'm convinced.
Thanks to @Craig Manning for the guidance and influence! I had to dig around and find most of the B-sides to DL, but hot damn....listening to these songs like this really bridges the gap between Futures and Chase This Light. Its practically a whole other album in JEW's discography by turning the SOMST EP into a LP. Been jamming to this and Brand New's new album all day. Its been a great Friday.
