Haha I know the actual lyrics. But sometimes I listen to it and the way he sings it like "I'm-a as I've always been" and "She's-a lost in this, she's-a like" can kind of disconnect them. But no complaints.. like I said it's one of my favorites. I used to think it was "she's a light, she'll always be a little far for me to reach" and I thought it was really fitting to the CTL theme haha

 

Ah okay. Yeah it's kinda weird how he does that and throws in extra syllables. I used to think that too and I thought it was so cool haha

 

Damn, I always thought he was saying "a light." I liked that lyric!

 

I've definitely been mishearing those lyrics. And I don't care much for Jim's inflection on that track

 

Glad I wasn't the only one haha. The "light" line was a very disappointing discovery..

 

"I set my watch by a street-side clock
A needle in echo groove

So like 75% of this line you got wrong lol

I know that's not the line, but that's the only way I hear it.

Count me amongst those who incorrectly sing the lyrics to "Always Be". Even though I know the correct lyrics, I still knowingly choose to sing it as

I'm alone in this
I'm an "as I've always been"
Right behind what's happening

She's a "lost in this"
She's a light
She'll always be
A little far for me to reach

It just makes too much sense to me that way not to, haha.

 

I thought it was "pierce my heart like a WHALING arm," as in like a harpoon to hunt whales with haha. I always felt that was quite the metaphor.

 

I've never thought it was "light", but now I wish that were the lyric.

 

I thought it was light too.

 

She will always be a little far for me to reach

So I'm in a constant state of chasing something I'll never catch

And she is my light

My integrity Blues vinyl came in the mail this morning so I finally listened to it. Wow. What a record. I picked the perfect time to become a fan of this band.
