I've never really listened to Snow Patrol outside of "Run", "Chasing Cars" and "Chocolate". All of which I love, haha.
There might be a UK vs US disparity when it comes to the definition of indie though. For example in the UK Death Cab aren't generally considered indie, whereas in the US they apparently are. Indie here means generally any UK rock band, whereas alt-rock means any US rock band. That's a generalisation but... there is a big difference in sound, even if a lot of it is down to the accents.
Also I meant dynamic in its definition of changes in volume. In my own mind, alt-rock tends to get fuller / more distorted in the chorus, whereas indie generally feels like it's more consistent throughout the song in terms of fullness/loudness.
"Run" is one of my favorite songs ever. I don't think they ever made a great album, but that is a great song.
im sure zach braff loves snow patrol but zach braff also loves the shins and i love the shins uh oh and i love zach braff but snow patrol sucks and are a stereotype. there we go
A Hundred Million Suns was a really good album I think. They always had a real dark/space vibe to them and they nailed it on that album. Especially on Lighthouse. Also Eyes Open had a really awesome bonus track on it that nailed that vibe but I forget what it's called.
I like that record. Not so much the one that followed it. Did they break up? Ha, yep, "Chocolate" is in The Last Kiss and "Chasing Cars" was on Scrubs. Speaking of Scrubs, I just watched the episode with "How to Save Life" in it and man, that's a good episode.
yeah the one after was fallen empire. didnt hear about them breaking up but it has been a long time. fallen empire wasnt great but had some good atmospheres in it, as their albums tend to.
Fallen Empires has probably four or five songs I remember liking a lot. It's really long though, if I recall correctly. And it's five years old at this point. Been awhile.
They are actually still around. I got curious a while back because it's been five years now and so I looked it up. I guess they were due to release an album a couple years back but then they completely scrapped it and started over: Snow Patrol scrap new album sessions | NME.COM Then on Twitter they said this last year: So I guess this year supposedly? Unless it has been pushed back again.
I've seen the end of that episode a lot of times. For some reason that's the part I always catch on reruns. I hadn't seen the full episode in awhile so I forgot the full emotional brunt of it. Oh yeah, I forgot they said they scrapped something.
On the Snow Patrol front, these days you are much better off checking out Gary Lightbody's side project (with a few members of Belle and Sebastien) called Tired Pony - the songwriting picks right up on a lot of Snow Patrol's better qualities. On the JEW front, oh snap. I found it a good read and analysis of each. Every Jimmy Eat World Album: Ranked From Worst To Best
So I've gotten back into jimmy eat world the past 6-8 months or so I only use Apple Music so I don't have any b sides only official releases. Any suggestions on good b sides by this band.
