I heard those words literally 20 minutes ago from a friend at work when I told them I saw JEW last week. I don't mind it though.
I remember when I went to Best Buy to buy Invented (probably the last CD I ever went to the store to buy, actually), the guy at the checkout counter was like super psyched to learn that they were still around. I guess he'd been a fan in the Bleed days, but had sort of lost track of them. He went and grabbed himself a copy of the album after I left.
Similarly a guy at my work saw that I was liking and commenting on a lot of JEW Facebook statuses, and said to me "hey, you like JEW? I didn't know they did anything after Bleed American". I find it weird that people just assume they stopped making music? I mean it takes all of 5 seconds on the internet to find out that they have released a lot of music since then.
2 of my best friends in the whole world are two of the biggest Jimmy Eat World fans probably ever, and my boss is a huge fan too. Plus a lot of my friends are fans. I feel blessed to know many JEW stans
My friends and I have a yearly tradition where we drive through Charlotte and sing JEW at the top of our lungs
It's to Jimmy Eat World and those nights in my car. When the first star you see, may not be a star. I'm not you STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR
I think we often forget that most people don't consume music in the same way as us. And by we, I mean those of us who are in the know of the music scene. Most people don't look up music online or really do any research, so if band x hasn't had a song on the radio in 5+ years, a lot of people would just generally assume they're not around anymore.
I live in Charlotte but drive to Spartanburg SC weekly (about an hour and fifteen minute drive) so I get to listen through an album every time I go up there, it's been a lot of Jimmy Eat World recently. Chase This Light gets better with every listen.
Didn't know you were from around here either. haha That's pretty cool. That makes you and Audrey the two Chorus people near me.
So uh, you're gonna have to add a third this year, you know? Can't just leave your wife out of this one. shotgun Yes! Both of you come see my band!!!
I can't afford the show coming up with Lonely Biscuits, but I'm hoping to make it in November to the Dollhands show at the milestone. :)
It's where my girlfriend lives. I've gone up there at least once a week since January 9th, 2015. haha
Yeah, I definitely wouldn't go there if it wasn't for her. haha There's nothing really in Spartanburg. I've actually kind of grown to enjoy the drive over though. It gets me out of the house and lets me listen through something start finish, which is something I rarely feel capable of these days.
Might be LTTP here, but I found this interesting: The 13 best guitarists according to Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins Some really deep selections by Jim here. Can't wait to dig into it more.
