    Sounds fun to me.

Yeah everyone's heard those songs it'll be tough. Hell every white dude that got an acoustic guitar for Christmas knows how to play Wonderwall better than they know how to bathe. Speaking from experience

Ha yeah they're a pretty weird band overall. I guess I feel like WTAM and lose are pretty tame by modern indie rock standards, while this one is a bit more out there with joe's vocals and all the additional instrumentation
Oh for sure. It reminds me of bleed American in that regard actually. Some classic Jimmy fare then some weird stuff thrown in here and there.

Honestly any of the last five could make a case. Right now probably through or pol roger. How about yours?

  3. "Pretty Grids" is pretty weird for them. I really do think they pick up some of the SOMST threads

I've never heard Champagne Supernova. Wonder wall is the only song I've heard, and even then, it's always just been in the background of restaurants. Haha

I've heard Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Champagne Supernova, and I think Cast No Shadow. I enjoy all of those songs but Wonderwall. Hell, I love Don't Look Back In Anger.

Truly ridiculous - not meaning that in a bad way, it's just so tough for me to believe

So hard to say, haha. I love all of these songs already. "Pol Roger" is definitely something special. It definitely caps the jurney of the album in this incredibly emotionally satisfying way. I think if I had to pick a favorite right now, though, it might be "It Matters," which I haven't seen mentioned much yet. The second verse of that song was immediately one of my favorite Jim verses ever.

There's a lot of classic Jimmy on here. It really feels like a record that could have come after Futures.

I think it's a bit poppier than futures. Could see it coming after CTL or invented tho. Definitely feels like a pretty natural record at this point too tho
    Excited to read this!

I think Futures is poppier than this, tbh.

really? hm. i feel like this one goes for pop more than pop rock at times - you w me, you are free, end is beautiful, to an extent sure & certain. i feel like these songs have more crossover appeal

"Sure and Certain" is actually the only one of those I would describe as poppy, so maybe we just view that term differently! I felt like Futures was more driven by hooks and riffs than this one.

i'd probably call sweetness their poppiest i think. maybe here it goes
hm, haha, yeah, fair enough. this certainly pulls in the other direction too though haha

I would call "The Middle" their poppiest, definitely. But there are a few songs on Futures (the title track, "Work," "Night Drive," "The World You Love," "Kill") have big hooks and plenty of gloss. They aren't necessarily "pop," but there's definitely a mainstream rock feel to that album. This one I'd compare more to Stay on My Side Tonight, where there are definitely still hooks, but where the mood and atmosphere sort of take center stage more.

the middle is up there for sure haha. see i'd never call the world you love or kill pop songs. i do agree that this one is a lot more atmosphere focused. i think thats super clear from the opening notes, haha

I'm dumbfounded that they aren't more well known. I tell people that my favorite band is Jimmy Eat World and they 're usually like "really? They're still around?"

I'm also sick and tired of them getting arbitrarily lumped into a file of mediocre emo bands by people who've never taken the time to listen to anything other than "The Middle."

I wish there was more of an irl community. I need to find out at my next JEW show where everyone is coming from, because real fans are hard to find in NYC.

Just about all my irl friends who are into even remotely similar music to me are all into JEW. There's only one "indie" friend of mine who doesn't like them/doesn't really know them.

After much pondering, I have finally discovered why JEW isn't coming to Boston this tour. Their name isn't Jimmy East World. My word, I have been decieved by words themselves.......
