Listening to Chase This Light for the first time in a very long time. Definitely loving this way more than I ever have. It's a great album
As someone who had never heard more than their singles for the past decade and a half, I started with Chase This Light. From where you are now though? I'd recommend listening in order from Bleed American through Damage. I'm still a new fan though. Only been in JEWDAISM for a couple of weeks.
clarity is my least favorite outside of static. it's very good, i like almost every song on it, but i just don't connect with it like i do every other album of theirs.
I mean, y'all know my stance on Clarity but ya. Futures is even with Clarity for me at this point. After that the others are just equal I can separate them
If I ever say another Jimmy Eat World album is better than Futures, that's how you guys will know that I've been replaced by a robot imposter.
As high as futures' highs are, there are, imo, some of their lowest lows. Granted, they've got, maybe, one bad song from 96 til now (and it isn't on that album), so that's not saying much
Y'all are obviously entitled to those opinions. But Futures is maybe the most important album in the world to me, so it's pretty much impossible for me not to view it as head and shoulders above everything else they've ever done. I know they will never make a record I love more and I'm okay with that.
For me, Jimmy Eat World topping Futures is roughly as likely as Springsteen topping Born to Run: it ain't gonna happen, but I'm happy to watch them try.
Chase This Light and Futures are essentially the same for me and also Bleed American is extremely close behind because I got into them when I got it at like 10 years old
