"Feeling Lucky" is a fucking jam! Quick and to the point, has a fun rhythm. Love that song. You know what b-side I like b/c it's so different? "Shame." I've always enjoyed that song and how big it sounds for being a very dark and moody song.
Electable is one of the top 4 or 5 songs on CTL. It's the ultimate blast-with-the-car-windows down song for me.
Hey! New here to the message board, but I've been following Chorus/AP since 2004 or so. Can't wait for the new JEW album! This talk of creating a "Stay On My Side Tonight" LP reminded me that I tried my hand at this a few years ago. My tracklist is below, using bonus tracks, b-sides, and demos from the Futures/Chase era. I'm looking forward to seeing what Craig comes up with! Stay On My Side Tonight 12 tracks - 51 minutes 1. Distraction (Chase This Light B-side) 2. Jen (Futures B-Side) 3. Over (Stay On My Side) 4. When I Want (Futures B-Side) 5. You (Futures B-Side) 6. Be Sensible (Chase This Light B-Side) 7. Disintegration (Stay On My Side) 8. Shame (Futures B-Side) 9. Open Bar Reception (Chase This Light B-Side) 10. Sparkle (Futures Demo) 11. Beautiful Is (Chase This Light B-Side) 12. Closer (Stay On My Side) I excluded Half Right because it's a cover, as well as the Drugs or Me remix. Thoughts?
It's a crime, really...People who know their music love them to death, but they're written off by those who most likely haven't heard anything other than "The Middle" and "Sweetness." They've become a semi-secret love of mine that most people just don't understand. I'm ok with that, but I wish they got more respect.
Okay. Been through the following, and based on my enjoyment of them, where should I go next? Listed in the order that I've listened: Chase This Light - - Love Bleed American - and a half - Like Futures - - Love Clarity - - Like Added note: This does not indicate final judgment of these albums, just where I sit so far, with a couple of them having a few spins and a couple only having been spun once. Adding a simpler rating system.
Never realized they did that. It would fit better as a bonus on the EP instead. Doesn't fit on Futures. Lots of great b-sides from those sessions, but none of them would have worked as well on the actual album.
Just finished up Invented and it has probably some of my least favorite songs (lyrically) so far, but I did enjoy the instrumentation.
Cut, Invented, and Mixtape were highlights, the rest kind of meandered between "I like this" and "I'm not sure about this one yet."
I really love Invented, like a lot. It took me a long time to "get it". its a really unique album in respects to the rest of JEWs discography. It's an album that tells a story like no other album in their discography does, when I started to see that story it helped me like that album a lot more. I still don't love "Higher Devotion" or "Action Needs an Audience", but I realize at least Higher Devotion is important for the story arc of the album. I made a big post a while ago trying to convince non invented believers to give it another chance, kind of dissecting the story if you're interested in reading that.
Evidence, Higher Devotion, Coffee and Cigarettes, Stop, Cut, Action Needs an Audience All songs I'm not a fan of
could you link me to that post? im very interested. i feel the same way about damage. that album is so powerful because of its story arc and if you miss the story of it theres a good chance you wont like the album at all.
