Am I the only who've noticed this big band logo font change on new covers? And for me You Were Good is the worst post static prevails closer. Even though it's still a great song
There have been a lot of weird things said on the Internet. I see more and more everyday. Geez louieeeez.
JEW is universal band. You can always find some songs that feel great depending on your mood. I mean right now i'm coming home drunk after bar and Clarity sounds like a perfect soundtrack for that. I don't know why
Invented and Damage are in the same boat for me, where I listened to them quite a bit when they came out, but, beyond the year of their release, I only ever come back to them every now and then. Both are definitely good albums though, really good even. I just don't find myself in the mood to listen to either of them often though and it might be because I don't love them and this band has released four other albums I love. I'm this way with other bands too. Oh and I've definitely come around to Dizzy being this band's best closer: Dizzy 23 My Sundown Mixtape You Were Good Goodbye Sky Harbor Anderson Mesa
I was really lukewarm on each of their recent releases since Futures. Chase This Light ended up growing on me massively, and now it's my second favorite of theirs behind Futures/SOMST. Unfortunately Invented and Damage never grew on me in quite the same way. I enjoy them both whenever I listen to them, but I don't feel drawn back to them in the way that I do to Futures and CTL.
Sometimes I'm not sure whether this thread is a dream or not b/c there is some shit said in here I just cannot believe has been on the record (not like, on an LP lol)
Okay that makes a little more sense. "Dizzy" is absolutely one of their best. "Just Watch The Fireworks" is a favorite.
I think Damage is pretty masterful. It's cohesive in a way that Bleed isn't. My favorite song on Bleed I would take over my favorite song on Damage, but as a full album, Damage feels more "complete" to me. I also have more of a personal connection to it.
Damage came out at the most accurate possible time for me. I vividly remember listening to that album for the first time thinking, "fuck, this band gets it and says it exactly how I wish I could." That album deserves more time from people. It's incredible.
So far I've been through Chase This Light twice, Bleed American (but once in the car, so it didn't have my full attention), and Futures twice. Chase This Light is awesome. Bleed American was fun, but didn't quite hook me. Futures is so good, and it's growing on me quickly. Don't quite know where my Jimmy Eat World journey of discovery will take me next.
Obviously you're going to get a ton of different opinions. But I would recommend giving futures a few more solid spins, then moving to Clarity (which is my personal favorite).
