bleed american, futures, and chase this light so far today. fuck i love going through their catalog. will shoot for invented, damage, and clarity tomorrow.
i've always found the title track on CTL to be underrated. probably one of my top 5 favorites songs of theirs.
Such an incredible song I've seen the best of love, the best of hate, the best reward is earned And I've paid for every single word I ever said Confetti rainfall in the quiet streets The beauty is in what you make it So get up on your feet
That's not saying particularly much. Invented is definitely their most forgotten album post-Static Prevails. I adore Littlething too though.
It's funny that everyone's loving Chase This light the track, I listened to it yesterday and couldn't make it past a minute. Again I can't put my finger on it, it's too polished. When Jim sings "Because tonight, the world turned in me" there's these overproduced monotone vocals harmonizing in the background and it makes me cringe every time. It's a small thing, but its one of those details that makes it sound like they're packing more into the song than they need to just for the sake of doing it. It's got an odd pace too, almost like it should be more uptempo but the beat just meanders and never really breaks out. Cautioners came on while I was driving to lunch though - now there's a song that uses space appropriately.
I don't necessarily think Invented has been more "forgotten" than Damage. I think those albums tend to get about equal attention and love from the fanbase. With that said, the last three do tend to be written off or dismissed much more often than the three albums that came before them.
Which bothers me to be honest. especially because I'm of the opinion that Chase This Light and Invented are superior to Bleed American.
Blegh, let's agree to disagree on that one too. Unless you meant soupier. They might be soupier than Bleed American for all I know.
If You Don't, Don't especially. That's a song I've never understood the love for, second worst on Bleed American
