I either saw on twitter or Facebook a post of someone saying a radio station commented on JEW's Facebook post saying they have something to play on the radio in 3 weeks. That could very well mean a radio debut of the song in 3 weeks or do it the other way and release the song and send it to radio a week or two later. Bands usually do it in one of those two ways.
IGNORE THE FOLLOWING, ARTWORK SNIPPET IS A TROLL. ----------------------- Here's a snippet of the album artwork according to JimmyEatWorldOnline. http://jimmyeatworldonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Screen-Shot-2016-08-18-at-6.06.09-PM.png ------------------------ Insight on the album process: "The band recorded the album in Los Angeles this past spring, some of which was recorded at Sunset Sound. It was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who has also worked with Paramore, Beck, Nine Inch Nails, M83 and more. Some songs you can most likely expect to hear on the album were played on Jim’s solo tour last summer, including Get Right, and Integrity Blues." All signs point to the producer info being correct. I've checked his Instagram and he seemed to have hid them recording with him between February and late March, but not well. I imagine they did the rest of the album in their studio in Arizona.
Wow, Justin Meldal-Johnsen + Jimmy Eat World is a hell of a combo! In a perfect world it would mean a dark, atmospheric huge souding record like Futures. Loved his work on Hurry Up, We're Dreaming and Paramore.
I'm honestly not as big of a Chase This Light fan as everyone else here is, I find it a little vanilla and try-hard compared to what JEW as a band executed more naturally on albums like Futures and Bleed American. But I've thought for years that Here It Goes is one of their best experiments and should've been a huge pop hit, and prettymuch zero people have agreed with me.
In my context, it means that the grander, more fleshed out sound that they nailed on Futures sounded (to me) comparitively watered down and lifeless on Chase This Light. I still find songs like Work, Kill and 23 incredibly moving - of the opening tracks that everyone here raves about on Chase This Light, the only one I ever revisit is Let It Happen; I just find most of Chase This Light to be lacking in depth and emotion compared to their best work.
Albums have meaning in the timeline of people's lives though. I'll always remember where I was when I first listened to Futures, driving through the Rockies in the dark in November. Chase This Light just never held that resonance for me as a cohesive unit.
I think that could be down to your nostalgia for Futures more than any faults CTL may have though.. Idk, I think CTL is their best album as a whole and sounds great.
Probably. I think it also stems from enjoying JEW's darker side and wishing they'd explored the sound from Stay On My Side Tonight EP a bit more. Chase This Light is equally polished but more fluffy.
Super anxious for this full announcement. Now that it is already Friday afternoon though, I guess I have to try and wait patiently until next week.
If you're not in agreement with what it implies, then I guess so This is the first photo I can recall where they all look a bit different than they usually do.
Exactly. Like... I don't know it just sounds so silly to criticize someone for apparently trying too hard?
Whoa whoa I gotta voice my opinion about a few things here. Chase This Light does not lack emotion that's for sure. I would argue that it has a few of the most emotional JEW songs EVER. Listen to Carry You and Dizzy for example. Those songs... It doesn't get much better than that. And those are just two examples, but I bring them up because they're the best. Chase This Light is trying hard to accomplish something, and in its efforts, it succeeds. I would say that Chase This Light is the catchiest Jimmy Eat World record, and maaaaybe the most consistent or at least very close to it. I have more I wanna say but I'm working haha
