To be honest more than half the songs on Invented wouldn't do too well in a JEW song ranking for me, yet I think the album as a whole is fantastic. The songs just do much better in context than individually imo
I can get with that opinion FT. I would actually love to discuss / hear everyones interpretations and thoughts on the story arch of "Invented" as an album. I think it is one of the most unique JEW records in the sense that it is the most... intertwined song to song? that isnt the best way to put it, i just cant think of a better way of putting it at the moment. Id love to get into a love of detail on it if its something other people are talking about. but simply put - to me Invented tells a story of heartbreak but finding new love somewhere else. Ive always thought where "Action Needs An Audience" falls in the tracklisting kind of disrupts the story arch.
something Jim said about Invented that made me really start thinking about the story Invented tells: "the album title, Invented, refers to a song which I feel sums up the mood here, but could also be taken more literally as this album is the deepest into character writing we have tried so far."
haha. BOTH now that you mention it... wow, i didnt know you were that big of a Smiths fan. Confession time, ive only ever listened to Queen is Dead... where do i go next? actually its really weird that i havnt listened to more of the Smiths catalog now that i think about it, based on my music taste, and on the fact that i really enjoy Queen
Yeah I adore em. Give the self titled a shot, then go forward from there. All 4 albums, and the fucking slew of b-sides and singles, are perfect
