Shit, I totally gapped this song. It's definitely up there on my faves list, too. I wish the demo version had that extra line in the bridge, though.
One time, she invited Jim Adkins on stage, and while they did sing the "stereotypical" The Middle, she did say that the band's music helped her a lot when she was growing up. I'd imagine she is a genuine fan of the band, seeing as she also likes Paramore and Fall Out Boy. Even if she only knows the hits, it's still great to see. I think it's cool that she's singing The Middle in the commercial cuz it's giving a new life to a 15 year old song in the media. Hope it makes new fans of the band!
She's been covering "The Middle" for a while and has said numerous times that BA helped her a lot when she was younger and that she really loves the band.
I've got no problem whatsoever with her being a JEW fan, I think that's the greatest thing about her. I also love JEW's cover of WANEGBT. I just don't care for her as a musician or as anything else, really.
Its very good. Weirdly, and bare with me on this, I get some Menzingers vibes if only because of Toms vocals taking lead on half the tracks and the songs themselves have a much more punk vibe with a darker twist.
Episode IV It's pretty good if you like rougher 90s emo. I like it a lot, but it's definitely an outlier in their discog If No Sensitivity counts as a b-side then that's my favorite actually
put Static Prevails on the turntable today because of this conversation--really is a great record. 77 Satellites and What Would I Say To You Now are both really great songs too.
Rockstar is my favorite on Static Prevails. Great, great album. I was just talking to my older cousin yesterday and he was telling me about how he went to this show. Absolutely amazing. Very jealous.
I kinda just realized today that Chase This Light is pretty much my second favorite Jimmy Eat World record. It's interesting to me that Clarity, Bleed American and Futures always seems to be grouped together as the big 3, but Chase This Light is honestly one of the best albums ever written.
I think those 4 albums work well as companion pieces. Bleed American and Chase This Light both have more of a poppy, upbeat vibe (with some exceptions, of course). I just have always viewed those as their sunnier records as opposed to Clarity and Futures. Also, "Dizzy" is one of their best closers for sure.
