people are just bored as hell and looking for an excuse to reorganize things. My hot take is that there are very very few actually poorly sequenced albums out there
Wasn’t talking about resequencing this album. Saying recommit could work as a closer doesn’t mean reorganizing a track list. Recommit has closing qualities, but also works as a pre closure to set up Congratulations. Said it earlier, and maybe it wasn’t clear enough. Not reorganizing an album that’s no even officially out yet. Actually just complimenting a band for having the skills and knowledge to end an album with these two songs...so not need confusion.
I mean, it’s definitely a personal preference with the way an individual likes an album to flow and with the way they listen to it. Which is why I find it funny that some people get so taken back with the way someone else switches up their listening experience. Personally, I like putting an album on shuffle because it helps keep it interesting and sometimes that shuffle order sticks with me more than the original sequencing. It’s all what you prefer.
I think I started it all tbh. I didn't think people would talk about it much. I've always been fascinated by music sequencing though. It's a weird obsession of mine. I always want to tinker with it. Sometimes I'll just spend time making playlists that follow a logical key pattern or mess with cadence transitions. It's all really boring to talk about but I get really into it. I could probably break down a ton of suggestions for this album, but it's rare that any album is safe from me doing that.
I... don’t think I like this record nearly as much as I was hoping I would. Only one listen in tho, I hope I quote this post a couple listens later and call myself a dumbass or something
Has anyone's Kings Road pre-order shipped? I thought I'd be clever and order the CD from Amazon so at least one copy would arrive tomorrow, but they're (Amazon) giving me next Tuesday as my arrival day. Lame.
I've never thought about doing it. I feel like I have to hear albums how the band intended it. But... I might consider it. Not with this album necessarily but others I might. If I can increase my enjoyment of something by changing the order then might as well try. As long as it's not an album where I care all that much about getting the "proper" experience.
You can't go wrong when it comes to their openers. I wish I was skilled enough to take the You With Me intro and put it into that 90's cartoon meme that pops up every few months. You know, the one that features a character putting on headphones and ascending to heaven.
Every year I still make myself a mixtape CD of all my favourite 20 or so songs from the year Can already tell you 555 will be on Greatest Hits 2019
