This is a very crunchy guitar album, most reminiscent of Bleed American for me And yet my personal highlights were the less crunchy tunes - Delivery and 555 Obviously it’s excellent but it’s almost a little too immediate if that makes sense. Like, here’s 10 mostly catchy tunes. I’ll have to dive deeper into the lyrics to fully appreciate
Delivery and Recommit are everything I love about Jimmy eat world. Preferred pacing, great lyrics, etc. The chorus of Diamonds is just awesome. Having said that, 555 is just so fucking cool and different for them that I can’t help but be drawn back there.
Going from the first two songs to “Delivery” was kinda jarring. But the album is a banger. The last track is amazing. I was hoping for some Davey screams there at the end haha. Excited to dig into this more.
Totally forgot Davey Havok was on Congratulations. Dig the track though it’s a banger Not really seeing what everyone else is in Diamonds, pretty run of the mill JEW for me
I like some of the lines in there and how he seems to attack the chorus a bit more urgently that draws me in
Def some major Invented vibes, this has that same bright tone to it and a similar ear towards experimentation
Seriously happy this band is still kicking it though. Thought they were truly done after Damage and they’re still at a very high level, and seem happier doing it
To me personally I feel like BA & Futures had a kid and this fucking awesome bolt of energy just got born... what a record as usual they have delivered! They have actually never done a bad album! I fucken love this band
Pretty solid first listen, nothing really jumped out as new or different for them but they are making a good JEW album. Maybe more listens will find more cool moments.
criminal energy is the best song they've written in years, second to that being 555. Delivery is classic JEW and diamond is great.
a little bummed i can’t have this on my phone for the international flight but it’ll be nice to listen for the first time next week on the way back
After a few listens the ones I’m not digging are the title track, one mil, diamond. Really really love the second half of the record.
Hey guys, it's kinda off topic but... Does anyone have a valid discount code for the Kings road merch site?
“Recommit” is a terrific penultimate track, but nothing about it feels like a closer to me. “Congratulations” is the perfect capper.
