555 is the most modern sounding song they've put out since...I don't even know when. Haha. I love it. Having a blast listening to this at work right now.
Uh this is easillllly the best first impression of a new JEW album for me since CTL. I'm way more casual a fan of theirs than all of you, though, ha.
my colleague had no idea JEW was still making music and he's looovvinnng this and instantly pre-saved it haha
Surviving - strong opener and lyrically feels like a sequel to The Middle Criminal Energy - really cool song and definitely feels like something new for the band. I just wanted more shredding. Delivery - Dizzy vibes throughout and I don’t say that lightly. 555 - Wow, what a song and I could definitely see this getting radio traction. One Mil - Easily my least favorite here. Not terrible, but sounds like Weezer. I would’ve rather had a remixed version of Half Heart here and this as a b-side. All the Way (Stay) - Pure s ax Diamond - Classic Jimmy and I could see this becoming a fan favorite. Would love to hear it live. Love Never - I never spent much time with this when it first dropped last year but I’ve come to love it in the past few weeks. Recommit - Wow, what a song! Feels like a good, natural progression from IB with some Futures thrown in. Congratulations - Another killer closer from them. Did not expect some of the turns this one took. Overall I really like this. A good mix of Integrity Blues, Chase This Light and Futures with enough new things thrown in the mix. I love when a band can stay within their wheelhouse but still bring enough new tricks to keep it interesting.
I'm really looking forward to being able to read the lyrics along to this, but my first impressions are that this is the JEW album I've been wanting since Chase This Light. That's not a knock on their post-CTL output (I loved Integrity Blues), but this side of JEW just hits me so much harder.
