I definitely think 555 will grow on people, I loved that one immediately. Halfway through and this rules, no surprise there.
I love "555". "Delivery" plus that one make my favorite one-two punch here. It was known we were going to get a more straight/immediate rock album, but I still missed a couple more ballad-ish songs, including the usual epic closer. While it's still a solid record, on first listen it's my least favorite since Static Prevails. Not that bothered, though: I expected it based on the band's description. I just prefer their nocturnal/atmospheric/expansive side - but I did have one more of those just 3 years ago.
two tracks in and this is definitely a road trip listen type of album. hope the rest of the album keeps this energy. take while the getting’s good, indeed.
immediately ranked above S/T, Static, Invented and Damage, but below Clarity, Futures, BA, CTL and IB. Time to listening again!
the layering of guitars on "delivery" is INSANE. i'm glad this kind of jimmy eat world album got the jmj treatment
Surviving - Song got awesome once it kicked in. Lyrics are cool. Criminal Energy - Song rips. I love how it keeps the energy going. Its gonna be a great song for running. Delivery - Yaaassssssss. Very 'Invented' and 'Chase This Light'-esque. The bridge is AMAZING. 555- Not sure why theres hesitation from others towards this song. Its a classic JEW ballad. One Mil - Intro/Verses sounded like Weezer on first listen...lol. All The Way (Stay) - I still enjoy this song. The saxophone solo still propels the song to the next level. Diamond - I love the chorus! Another CTL-esque song. Love Never - Still holds strong for me after all these months with it. Fits well on the album. Recommit - Oh my, vocals sound amazing. I get Bleed American/Futures vibes with is. The vocals and guitars... Congratulations - Could this be their heaviest song ever? Its lays the hammer down HARD the last half. They were stright vibing on this one! Top 3 that stuck to me after diving in: Criminal Energy Delivery Recommit
