Briefly, and this is the last mention I'll make of it: It's worth noting that they played Love Never acoustically at the end of the podcast, and it's the first time they've ever played it acoustically for everyone. It was a really nice rendition, so it would be cool if someone clipped it out and shared it for those of us who don't want to listen to the podcast.
the "my bad i guess i was wrong, sorry" should have come like, pages ago though, that's what is dragging this on.
Wow. Criminal Energy is a punch to the face! I liked it more than All The Way and Love Never (And I love those songs) and its not even the studio version lol. CE might just be the "Just Tonight" of the album and I'm into it.
For what it's worth, in all likelihood the band just didn't know about the allegations against Hardwick and deserve the benefit of the doubt in this case imo.
Guess its good I don't know who Chris Hardwick even is. I do know who Jimmy Eat World is and how badass All the Way still sounds.
I also think "You're wrong, you really should look it up" could have come instead of "you're a disgusting monster who should be ashamed of yourself". Just saying, there could have been more nuanced conversation on both sides. But it's done now, and I have apologised to anyone who thought I advocated not believing survivors. So there's that.
Yeah this is where I stand. I actually never heard of the allegations on him myself. But I feel like they wouldnt have chosen to work with him if they were more informed.
I've apologised, can we drop it now? I don't really have the time to go through everything you've quoted. I made it clear that I believe survivors unless proven otherwise. I THOUGHT it was proven otherwise. Again, apparently I was wrong. Is that ok?
Just stop posting, please. You're just going round and round and round and it's getting worse and worse and worse.
I don't keep bringing it back up, I want to talk about the band, but when somebody else brings it back up, I have to defend myself. I'm going to draw a line here, please nobody bring it back up. I already apologised, I don't know what more I need to do to be able to continue talking about Jimmy Eat World here. OK here's the line: ----------------------------------------
Well, suffice to say it sounded nothing like what rock radio today sounds like. The bands that were getting played back then don’t get played anymore, JEW included. The format shifted a lot, a bunch of radio stations went out of business or changed hands, and the ones that are still around adapted to playing Imagine Dragons and 21 Pilots.
I think I'm going to hold off on listening to the newest 2 singles. I'd rather have 8 new songs to listen to. Stoked to hear it all in a few days.
Yeah I mean I had never heard of Hardwick before this conversation, but I have no problem renouncing him immediately now that I have.
The funny thing about the bands that got played back in the day/early 2000's and aren't getting new songs played today is that those older hit songs from those bands are still being played on popular radio. The Middle, Sweetness...crap, even Fat Lip played over the weekend. Its crazy how much radio played a role for rock/pop rock music at the time. The music still shows up on the airwaves today. I think that's awesome, but at the same time I wish they'd update it with new stuff from these same bands to see what happens lol.
Craig obviously knows much more about this than I do, but I can remember thinking back in 2012 when Gaslight Anthem released Handwritten that they were basically playing an impossible game in that the entire apparatus that used to exist to propel bands that played the type of music they play to the level they seemed to be reaching for no longer existed.
Honest to God I couldn't tell you a true rock radio station in the Cleveland market. I don't listen to the radio, ever, but I can at least tell you what most of the stations are in my area. EDIT: I guess I should clarify that I mean a true rock radio station that plays current rock songs. There are a few classic rock stations and stations that play 90s and 00s stuff. But to my knowledge, nothing new or current.
Yo y’all there’s a thread for this, it’s called Accountability in Music, and I removed myself from it for this exact reason Can we talk about salient updates regarding a band we all love here instead I haven’t heard the studio version of 555 yet, what do people who’ve heard it think
I searched a bunch of different iTunes stores around the world and I couldn't find "555" up on any of them yet... Not sure where people are getting it at this point.
Here's a salient update: the band just guested on an abusive monster's podcast. Pretty crucial information for those who care to have it. Just because you don't care doesn't mean others don't.
I'm not a big fan of it but probably I listened to the live version too much so need some time to adjust. It's on the UK iTunes store. UK got lucky again like it did with All the Way.
