Strange how they're calling this their 10th album when they don't acknowledge the self-titled, like, at all otherwise.
I’m back to post in this thread and this thread only. Hope I don’t regret this but I just need somewhere to talk about this. Anyway. Single is fucking incredible bro. Drums have the same groove as authority song but the songwriting feels more in debt to chase this light. Gotta tell ya following integrity blues I was not expecting something like this for the next record. That being said, following Love Never, it fits right in to where they’re headed. Probably their most energetic single since Big Casino. Just so much hype and momentum behind it, feels almost triumphant? Need to analyze the lyrics but I dig what I’m picking up. Production is ace. Highly unlikely this is anything but album of the year for me
Good to have ya back, hope you're doing well! Jimmy Eat World brings people together haha. I'm debating whether or not I want that enamel pin
Thought of it while listening tonight! "who really says that they hope they'll meet the one" is a very similar melody to "maybe we can put your tape back on"
Holding out for these songs has actually been very challenging I hate you all for tempting me with your praise!!!
Yep, came on here to post thoughts on All The Way, and earlier posts on this same page share my same sentiments - took my words. Verses do have that Mixtape melody, the bridge is strikingly similar to Jen, and the song does have that overall sway of Authority Song. But summed up, it's just a great, airy, pop-gem of a song! Rachel sounds great as always. ...That sax does seem a little awkward/forced though. It could've/should've easily just been a guitar solo. Makes me think of this
Just listened to both of the new songs for the first time and digging them a lot, I feel like this album is gonna be up there with their best. Also that dark grey T-shirt is calling my name.
is there an album out there with better b-sides than Futures? I mean I'm a bit buzzed and on my way to drink some more with my best friend before he leaves town again, so you know I'm already in that Jimmy mood. but how the hell does one album produce Disintegration, Closer, When I Want (crazy underrated) and Shame outside of its main tracks?? ridiculous
Wow rock music has not changed much in the last decade. Check out the top of Spotify’s “Rock This” playlist.
The Futures b-sides are incredible. I do consider the SOMST EP to be b-sides from the album. Disintegration and Closer are two of my favorite songs from this band. Over is so good too. And then with the other b-sides there’s Shame and When I Want which are both great too, especially Shame. Very underrated song
Someday I need to go on a treasure hunt and find all the JEW b-sides. I'm sure I'm missing a significant amount of them.
No love for "Sparkle"...?!?!? I love that one. I always kinda consider the SOMST EP as Futures b-sides too, even though they aren't exactly. That kinda puts that one over the top, but the CTL b-sides are phenomenal as well, and "Open Bar Reception" is one of my favorite Jimmy Eat World songs period.
The production on this is so absolutely crisp Song is very straightforward, but sometimes we just need to rock and groove out, and All The Way makes me want to do that
Technically, they are re-worked b-sides from the Futures era. "Disintegration," "Over," and "Closer" are all part of the Trombino sessions demos from Futures, just different versions with different titles and slightly different lyrics.
