Finally listening to All The Way (Stay). Of course I loved it. So damn catchy. The female vocals, the saxophone... they all work perfect.
I don't really get not liking IB if you like JEW I like the new song(s), not my absolute favorite so far but solid, reminiscent of BA and CTL
Damage is so good! i’m glad it’s produced the way it is. it both suits the songs and sets it apart in their discography.
I’ve come around on invented being maybe better than bleed American and futures lately and I feel like I need to atone for that
It's tough to choose, but I think BA and Invented are my favorites. It changes all the time though. The only thing I know for sure is that Damage is my least favorite since Clarity
These new songs are great. Very Futures-sounding melodies to me but with a brightness that's appealing.
Tier 1: Clarity, Futures Tier 2: Bleed American, Chase This Light, Integrity Blues Tier 3: Damage, Invented, Static Prevails Not a bad one in the bunch.
Jimmy Eat World tell us about conquering doubt for new album 'Surviving': "Your lesser self convinces you to let them have the keys" - NME Cool interview
I'm relistening to A Praise Chorus. Does anyone else really wish they gave more feature spots to Davey Von Bohlen? I love his voice and I think it suits the band so well, I'd love it if he popped up more.
Tier 1: Futures, Integrity Blues Tier 2: Clarity, Bleed American, Chase This Light Tier 3: Invented, Damage Tier 4: Static Prevails Futures and Integrity Blues are two of the most important albums in the world to me. Futures is simply timeless and was a very formative album for me in my music discovery. It’s so anthemic and cathartic in such a unique way within the band’s discography. I remember so many fans, myself included, who were just pining for another album similar to Futures and I feel like we finally got that with Integrity Blues. As for Integrity Blues, that came out during a very dark period in my life where I struggled greatly with depression and alcohol. Integrity Blues felt like such a warm embrace. Like, that album would tear me apart early on and then put me back together again by Pol Roger. I cannot express exactly how much that album means to me. I just know that, even though I don’t listen to it as much anymore due to some painful memories attached to it, it’s still an incredible album that was the soundtrack to my life upon its release and throughout the following year. That album means the world to me.
Not enough Damage or Invented love here. Those albums are very special to me. My favorite will always be Clarity though. I definitely think everyone has their preferences, but they’ve never made a BAD album.
The interviewer kinda sucks , but I liked what Jim has to say and also god dammit Jim is such a beautiful man
Tier 1: Self-Titled, Static Prevails, Clarity, Bleed American, Futures, Chase This Light, Invented, Damage, Integrity Blues, Surviving Tier 2: [Footage Not Found]
Futures, Bleed American, and Chase This Light are my top three but everything from Clarity on is great.
Yoooo this shit goes hard as fuck. I love it. I’m also super intrigued by the way Jim thinks. There’s something more than admirable about always trying to be a certain level of self-aware and searching for self-improvement, and then also incorporating that into your music. It’s something you really don’t hear a ton of musicians talk about. I also thought it was interesting that he has apparently stopped drinking. I feel like so many of my favorite musicians have stopped drinking lol
