This is gonna be great. Really dig the new song and I paid very little attention to Love, Never (just a few listens) back when it first came out, so it's still fairly fresh to me.
Clarity, Integrity Blues, and Invented in that order for me as a top 3 The others all shift around and I love them all though
I haven't really loved anything they've done since Chase This Light. The praise on here for IB is really cool but it also confuses the hell out of me to be honest. Oh well. New song's ok. I don't hold much hope I'll ever love another JEW album but hey, Clarity-BleedAmerican-Futures is one of the best three album runs ever and CTL isn't far behind for me so I'm not too bothered.
I know a fair number of people who just really don't like Integrity Blues. I've always been a little confused by that.
I am probably Chase This Light, Futures, Bleed American, Integrity Blues.... but there is little separation so it’s like a 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and so on. I love how so many fans have different favourites and rankings for their albums though. Also, just want to point out how most people’s favourites aren’t just limited to certain eras. Considering they are usually 3 years apart for an album, that’s impressive they can have favourites be over a decade apart. Hopefully Surviving will crack some people’s Top 3.
The new song just feels so triumphant and positive and I really need that in my life right now. And I like how the saxophone solo could have easily been a guitar solo but then they were like, “fuck it, it’s a saxophone solo now” and it’s so extra and cheerful and I love it.
I like it better with a comma but it doesn't have one Might just be more comfortable considering No, Never
People talk a lot about JEW's consistency, but I was thinking about how a lot of bands put out great records earlier in their career and then settle into a string of good or fine albums later on. My personal example of that is Death Cab. JEW, however, has an album #9 that could arguably be their strongest work, and I could honestly see an argument for any of their records (since Clarity) being their best. That's pretty cool.
new song.... yes. im feeling it. so catchy. I enjoyed IB but definitely not in their top 3. youre not cracking Futures/Clarity/BA, but it was a great return to form after the craptastic "Damaged"
