i leave this thread for 2 days and come back to people saying Futures isnt the best JEW album..... this place has gone to shit
I feel like I'm going crazy, is there a FaceTime ringtone at the beginning of the second verse of 555?
The same as Third Eye Blind! I'm sure Zach is pleased. Review reads like it was written in about 15 minutes.
I mean I disagree with a lot of their negative reviews, but I’ve also discovered a ton of bands because of them so...
more like its been 15 years so 90% of their writing/editing team are completely different people from a new generation who grew up around this music and can see the value in it, whereas back then the people reviewing the emo adjacent albums (a much more rare occurrence than it is now) were outsiders and surely outside of the demographic those bands were appealing to.
Futures has always been an interesting album for me. I had just turned 21 when it came out, and I had only been a casual Jimmy Eat World fan before that, only knowing them from the couple of songs that were all over the radio around that time. It struck me as something special right away, and almost immediately cemented them as a band that meant a lot to me from that point on, despite the fact that I really only loved the first 6 tracks. At that time, I really thought the quality of the songs completely cratered after “Pain” and I didn’t enjoy any of the songs on the back half. In the years since I have come around on almost all of the songs on the album in a major way, to the point where I honestly can’t understand what the hell I was thinking back then when I listen to the songs now. I still cannot play the entire album and say that I enjoy every song, but there is no doubt in my mind that the album is a flat out masterpiece and one of the most important albums to come out in my lifetime.
Hipsters who only listen to lo-fi indie noise folk jazz albums from artists you've probably never heard of before because they are super underground.
I mean it was supposed to be a joke but there is definitely an air of pretentiousness on that site that annoys me.
