My strongest opinion on Invented the album is that I wholeheartedly believe that the studio version of "Anais" should have been on it. I do also think though that there are a handful of late-album tracks that all would have made for good singles. Tracks 5-9 all would have in my book.

 

I couldn't agree more with that.

 

Loving this album so far. Still digesting it all and haven't got a chance to sit down and go through all the lyrics yet but definitely feeling like one of my favorites for the year. One Mil, Delivery and All The Way (Stay) are my early favorites.

 

Not really into Action Needs An Audience and I wish Anais had made the album in its place right in between Cut and the title track

 

Woke up with Diamond stuck in my head.

 

I personally would swap "Anais" in for either "Higher Devotion" or "Action Needs An Audience". I don't care for either.

 

I’ve warmed up to Higher Devotion over the years, but I do think it’s the next weakest song on the album after Action. To me, I think the atmosphere and energy to Anais would have served well to bridge the atmospheric Cut and the slow burn epic Invented.

higher devotion is good. action needs an audience is good. every other song on that album is great.

I know this will be a sizzling hot take but Evidence and Coffee and Cigarettes are easily my two least favorite songs on Invented.

Everything else bangs.

 

I have tried so many times over the years to get into "Higher Devotion". When it has been a while and I think back about the song, I actually think I like it. But then when I try to listen to it again I really just do not like it.

 

It is so funny, because there is a strong chance I would put these two forward if someone asked me to pick the two best songs on the album!

 

All The Way might be my favorite song on this. Really loving it, though.

 

Just thinking how cool it is that Jim is 43 and writing lyrics about personal growth while a lot of other bands from their era/of their age tend to try and recapture nostalgia or never expand their subjects.

 

Is it just me or has kings road updated the image of the blue hoodie on their site?

I think I posted in this thread not long ago how the hoodie looked like a much deeper blue in person than on the site. Now I look at the site and the colour is more reflective of how it looks in person.

Do you think they simply chose a better picture or do you think they started shipping out a different colour variant instead?

For the record I thought the older colour looked nicer.

Edit: if you click on a bundle with the hoodie, it still shows the old colour for comparison

My GF thinks they might have had a complaint that the pic online didn't match the product. Wouldn't surprise me because they are so different.

 

wait is the actual hoodie you got this vibrant??? the picture when i purchased and the hoodie i got were both like a pale blue. i wonder if this was a difference between the uk and us store

 

Oh really? I didn't purchase one because when I saw it in person at a gig, it was this more vibrant blue and I didn't like it as much as in the (former) pictures. So perhaps you got a pale blue one before they changed their stock to a new, more vibrant colour?

 

Could be EU Vs US. The stores are very different with different pictures that reflect the paler blue.

One of the pictures even has weirdly fat lettering. And if you click on the hoodie item itself you can see a model wearing it and it's very much a pale blue, unlike the vibrant blue I saw in person in the UK and on the UK store.

 

Yeah mine is sky blue.

 

I completely forgot how good Invented is. It's perfect for this time of year.
