Recommit gives me those back-half-of-Futures vibes

Where is this FOB comparison for 555 coming from

It’s much more of The Night Game track

Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

Looks a darker blue in person than the soft blue in the pictures IMO. Not quite as lovely a colour but still really nice.

anyone know what that effect is at 3:30 in Congratulations? Its similar to the effect used in "How to Draw / Petrichor" at 2:50. I love that sound, whatever it is.

Right now this album is settling into 2nd tier Jimmy Eat World albums for me alongside Damage, Invented and Bleed American. Tier 1 for me is still Futures, Chase This Light and Integrity Blues. Still very early though. Futures and CTL are both so goddamn good and just have so many great b-sides. I can't help but end up counting the b-sides toward how much I love the respective albums.

If I had to guess, it’s an analog synth that’s syncopated.

Has this world stopped asking what it's thinking?

I’ve been so-so on 555 but following along with the lyrics just now has gotten me completely under its spell. Hot damn.

555 is great and the music video totally elevates it. Still don't understand how they made that work haha

I can't get enough of this album. Such an easy listen.

One Mil reminds me of Straylight Run, not sure if it's a specific song.

my qualm with 555 is nitpicky, but the synth sound and drum machine both sound stock as fuck to me, i could probably find garageband presets that sound exactly the same in 10 minutes. the songwriting, vocal performance, and backing guitars are all killer though.

I hope they will make an album with Congratulations / Pass The Baby type of sound somewhere down the line.

what i like about this album and recent jimmy work is that their songs undoubtedly remind you of their previous work, but you dont want to go listen to their previous work instead.

I wish Congratulations kept going, feels like they’re just really starting to jam it out and then it’s over

They’ve been doing a “weird song/different song” each album, but I don’t think they’d do an album like that.

They sort of have a model. Per album you’ll sort of find:

Early Energy song (Futures, Big Casino, A Praise Chorus, Sure and Certain, Surviving, Hard To Find, Appreciation)

Sweet sounding Jimmy song (The World You Love, Always Be/Here It Goes, Cautioners, You are Free, Delivery, Littlething)

High Energy Rock Jimmy song (Pain, Electable, Bleed American, Get It Right, Criminal Energy, My Best Theory, I Will Steal You Back)

Alt Acoustic Driven Jimmy Song (Kill, Carry You, Hear You Me/Your House, The End Is Beautiful, One Mil, Movielike, Damage)

Weird Jimmy song for that album (Drugs or Me, Gotta Be Somebody’s Blues, Get It Faster, Pass The Baby, 555, Cut)

Long late in the album song (23, Dizzy, My Sundown, Pol Roger, Congratulations, Invented/Mixtape, Byebyelove)

The they do these types to varying multiples on a record. They sequence them differently as well and manage to keep everything fresh musically on an album that way. Also, they don’t copy themselves. If you look at any of my categories, the songs don’t sound the same, but manage to capture a feel.

can confirm the softness. my wife (who ordered it for me for my birthday) is already planning ways to "accidentally" shrink it in the wash so it can be hers.

"Invented" is probably my favorite Jimmy song from this decade.
