Favorite band is U2, favorite band on this scene is Yellowcard, other favorites from this and last year include Blink, Radiohead, Wolf Alice, Young the Giant, Glass Animals... I'll maybe start with Bleed American and go from there.
Based on that, I think you'll love Jimmy. Bleed is probably your best bet, I would definitely suggest futures as your next stop. Let us know what you think!
All I know is that "23" and "Kill" are the best songs.. and "Nothing Wrong" is my least favorite, with "Pain" and "Night Drive" at the lower end. Everything else is way too hard for me to put in order. I always try rankings but fail miserably.. especially with this being one of my favorite albums of all time haha Every time I listen to "Night Drive" I realize it's much better than I give it credit for, so that can jump higher on my list on any given day
If you're a U2 fan then you'll definitely find some stuff to like in JEW, same with being a Yellowcard fan (especially if you like their more alt-rock side). I'd say start with Bleed American, since it has the song you know, then move to Clarity or Futures (plus the Stay On My Side Tonight EP if you like that), Chase This Light after those two, then Damage, Invented, and Static Prevails in whatever order.
Threw a quick acoustic cover of "You Are Free" up on Instagram.. love this song so much. Easily my favorite of the pre-releases instagram.com/p/BLl739OhQnK/
I've always thought "Sweetness" was a good song when it came out while I was in 8th/9th grade. So, I convinced my mom to buy me BA, but I never fully got into the album for whatever reason until later on. What really sparked JEW to grow on me was because of the tv show One Tree Hill and the movie Butterfly Effect. JEW songs were played all over the One Tree Hill series (Nada Surf was too). Those episodes were what led me to buying Futures since the songs they featured (Polaris, 23, Work) were amazing and I knew I was missing out on the album after that (I never cared for Pain, which is why I held out on buying the album.). Then Butterfly Effect came out and had a scene with Hear You Me. I thought it was fucking beautiful for whatever reason so I revisited BA and it grew on me A LOT. It didn't mean as much to me as Futures did, but it gained a lot of appreciation from me. Chase This Light came out and I liked it, but I didn't have a connection with it like I did with the previous albums. CTL songs were also in One Tree Hill, so I thought that was cool too. That album just reminds me of visiting my buddy at his college and the house party was blasting CTL during a giant Beer Pong tournament they had. I remember feeling like I was in a movie that night. Fast forward to Invented and Damage. I can appreciate those albums, but they never did anything for me when they came out. Now I'm excited for Integrity Blues because the songs I've heard have already connected with me.
i always tought sweetness was an incredible song but i realy dislike how they go into that realy happy part a few times to me it ruins the dark mood of the song so im sorta divided about that one
How about the bridge/breakdown?! At the "little water please" line when the drums come in with an almost dance-style beat. So killer..
Damn good show tonight in Cincinnati. The crowd was really engaged throughout as usual. Seeing your hometown embrace and welcome a great band is one of the best feelings.
I'll do this.but first I miss the futures ranking. 23 The World You Love Kill Work Drugs or Me Futures Polaris Nothingwrong Just Tonight Pain Night Drive Nothing against Night Drive, it's just the least perfect song on a perfect album. The first three are in my top 7 of JEW songs probably with 23 being my second favorite
23 Kill Futures Polaris The World You Love Just Tonight Work Pain Nothingwrong Drugs Or Me Night Drive
Futures ranking? Hmm, shouldn't be hard actually. 23 Polaris Kill Pain The World You Love Night Drive Drugs or Me Futures Just Tonight Work Nothingwrong
I already don't like this list, but figured I'd post to 1) show that I actually did it, and 2) get some conversation going. I left off Static because those songs would all be at the bottom of my list, and I left the b-sides and covers off because I don't know all of them well enough to include them. Your move, @CoffeeEyes17. Everyone else, #BringTheHate.
