invented is by far their most underrated record. even i didnt like nearly half of it for a while. now i fucking love it front to back and listen to it more than pretty much any other jimmy record even if its not my favorite. it just sounds so good in the car during late summer/early fall
yeah cut is incredidable on it its so deep loud n heavy it kinda feels like it doesnt belong there because the other songs or so much more strait up n upbeat , its a perfect song to listen to outside on a cold october night If it's your name in lights And if the time is yours, You'd be on your back You'd be on the floor It's the kind of night that I'd always hoped And he's the kind of guy worth waiting for
I don't know why they would release a song and then undermine it by streaming the album anyway. I don't think there will be a stream at all, really. Especially not since they've already given us so many songs.
That raises a good question actually.: What Jimmy Eat World song is the best representation of the band overall? A song that epitomises their sound and encapsulates everything that makes them what they are. If someone asked what JEW sound like, which song would you show them if you could only pick one? I would pick Polaris, but For Me This Is Heaven would also be a great pick. Be Sensible would be up there too.
I don't know. Polaris is a fine answer I guess, but it's tough because there's the more layered, atmospheric JEW and there's the more upbeat, punchy JEW. I think finding somewhere in the middle (no pun) is the way to go. I'd probably say something like Carry You, Dizzy, The World You Love, maybe even Lucky Denver Mint. They aren't necessarily my favorite songs by the band, but they sort of hit that "a bit of everything" sound for a beginner.
All I can think is that all those who preordered online get a copy too. I'm nowhere near a show to preorder it.
The orders being cancelled is actually incredibly frustrating. Anyone who did get their hands on it willing to share My Enemy yet...?
You are free or the end is beautiful would be my pick for most representative Although actually Polaris and World you love are good choices too
Can't believe the song hasn't made it out yet. Hundreds, possibly >1000 people have the vinyl by now. And nobody has ripped the song and put it on youtube or somewhere? It's strange.
I read an article that listed Lucky Denver Mint as the definitive JEW song and I found that hard to disagree with. On a separate note, you know what is great? The full band version of You Were Good. I see how it wouldn't work as well as a closer, but as a song I massively prefer it.
Mine was too :/ I wish they would've cancelled my order 2 months ago when they took the listing down instead of telling me everything is A-OK until the day I'm supposed to receive it. Bummer.
Random thought/question: Has anyone ever m - Read this. Thought, "The End is Beautiful? Do I know that song? How would I not know a JEW song? I have to know that song!" - *Googles "The End is Beautiful"
I would say their most representative songs are... A Praise Chorus (represents their upbeat anthems) Lucky Denver Mint (the perfect combo of rock and emotional depth) Kill (contains all the best elements of their ballads and the energy of their upbeat songs)
