I like the album art the best too, I just wish it had the band and album name in the upper-left corner like the singles, instead of across the middle.
From Indian lakes, Connor oberst, Kevin Devine, cymbals eat guitars all streamed or are streaming in advance. People do it
This. And "Firefight" reminds me of the beginning of "The World You Love" haha. YAF is incredible. Sonically one of my favorite recordings I've heard in the genre in a long time. The mix is flawless.. so much power in the low end, and I absolutely love Jim's vocal delivery and all of the doubles in the chorus. Cannot wait to own this record. Anyone know who mixed this album?
I'm not sure, but I agree that that mix is awesome. Which is nice, because while I warmed up to Damage, I think many of the songs were held back and lacked energy because the mix was so flat.
From Zach: “The first part of [‘Pass the Baby’] has been sitting around since 2006. That’s one of the oldest ideas on the record,” Lind said. “We always thought it would be cool to start it really close and tight sounding, and then it wanders off into this crazy other spot.” Concert preview: Yearlong hiatus invigorates Jimmy Eat World on ‘Integrity Blues’ I love the week leading up to releases from my favorite bands, there are always interesting tidbits to learn.
Nice inputs. On further listens, You Are Free is pretty great after all. JEW doesn't use keyboards often and its a shame because just like in Over, the keys are brief and beautifully done here. Very emotive song and yet it doesn't drag, and an interesting rhythm section throughout.
My mind hasnt been changed too much on You Are Free, but i do like its darker atmosphere. feels like pass the baby > get right > you are free could be an awesome run of songs in the album since theyre all quite dark tonally, so i can imagine the mood of the album kind of sinking into darkness where it started off quite bright (You With Me > Sure and Certain). journeys like that through moods are what make for great albums for me. this is all just speculation but i get the impression that the way the mood of this album shifts will make it quite a journey to experience given the placements of the songs we have heard so far (and with the knowledge that Pass the Baby is quite dark).
nah. only a week away at this point, you'll be happy to hear this song for the first time while listening to the whole album.
I'm gonna have to pull you over to the dark side on this one... listen. It's worth it. Especially if you've already listened to the other 3 haha
