I don't think they've released this many singles pre album since futures. Not that it really means anything, I'm just surprised this one's getting more than invented or CTL, which I think had some way bstter single choices than this album
i still wouldnt consider get right a "single" in the traditional sense you know? but yeah they usually dont release three songs prior to a record. im not complaining tho
I know what you mean, but I'm pretty sure it's getting a physical release? Could be wrong tho. This does have me wondering if like always evolving said, they'll do a post album single Anyway, this is one of my least favs on the album. I like it, but I don't love it. Glad everyone else does tho!
theres nothing in the production that i dont like, i just feel there could have been more layers to it, particularly in the verses. i feel like in the verses theres jims voice, the drums, and quite a bit of empty space. In terms of structure, i feel like the solo could have been twice as long, but oh well. but! the chorus is the most important part and it hasnt taken me very long at all to really warm to it. so im happy. and i like the long intro, it keeps things interesting. maybe ill warm to the way the bridge and third verse are structured over time... it at least changes things up from the formula and again keeps things interesting to a degree. and yeah damage is excellent i think, and the production definitely works well for what it is in terms of giving the album a very intimate feel, which lends itself well to the story behind the lyrics. as songs taken individually though, i feel they would be better if they had a more clear and punchy production that let the vocals shine through a little more. the analog recording of it gives intimacy at the expense of clarity and power, i think. again, it worked well for the kind of album it was but im absolutely thrilled that they got their old production style back for the next album. i definitely did not want damage part 2. that album is special to me and i like to leave it there and move on.
The opener is probably my least favorite song on this album and it's still a great song. I would've bet money on You Are Free or even Pretty Grids being a single though
Get right's grown on you, huh? I can't see pretty grids being a single. YAF for sure tho. Maybe even Through or End Is Beautiful
Yeah now that I've framed it as a "Pain" or a "Bleed American" of the album I enjoy it a lot more. Through would be a great single
I shared JEW's Late Night performance of Sure and my boss told me she watched it and hears the song all over the place. My job here is done.
To listen or not to listen? I love the feeling of listening to a new album not having heard the opening track. This is going to be hard.
this song holy shit. 3/3 but this is my favorite released so far. such a strong fucking opener, sounds like a statement song from them.
