It helps that I just recently got into JEW and I'm still soaking up and discovering new things about their discography. I've got patience because I've only been anticipating this since mid-August.
I've seen them live at least five times, and they've never played that song live. I don't know that I'd really expect them to of course, but it's one of my wife's favorite songs by them, and she always hopes that they'll bust it out every time we see them.
Wow, shocked they're releasing You With Me as the third song instead of You Are Free. I would've bet great money on You Are Free as the next "single." Interesting
According to Setlist.fm, they haven't played it since 2011. I'll cross my fingers for you that they bust it out on this next tour!
I saw them play it live in Jersey for the bleed american anniversary show (when they played the full album). I actually have a video of it bookmarked, its one of my favorite songs..
I'll third the "If You Don't, Don't" comparison. The intro also reminded me of Coldplay's "Lovers In Japan". Damn, this song is a beauty. Love the build-up and the lyrics are great from what I've caught so far. Don't even get me started on the arrrangements and the lush production. Jimmy Eat World + Justin Meldal-Johnsen is the sound of heaven I expected it to be.
Probably has my favorite bass part out of this whole band's discography. It's so punchy Edit: Referring to You With Me to be clear
I got "If You Don't, Don't" early in the setlist the last time I saw them, which was 2011. For home much they saturate the set with Bleed songs, it seems like that one doesn't get much time. I'm glad I got to see it.
There are some things about the song that I'm not fond of, structurally and production-wise, but it's quite good nontheless. So excited for the rest. I'm thinking nothing will top Sure and Certain though.
I'm interested in knowing, but what about the production don't you like? I take it you're a Damage fan too? I really liked the production on that. I've always liked the analog tape sound.
I can see that happening. Keeps the interest going. I have a decent quality live performance of the song so I can only judge based off that, but I like it a lot. Its also a great sign seeing these opinions of what songs could be released as a single. Makes me super pumped for the album.
