it's a stand out on the album for sure. definitely up there as far as their singles go. but shit, looking at all their singles on wikipedia... why haven't they done a greatest hits?
haha you don't have to be finished to drop a greatest hits, and they have more than enough material for it.
Lol it's probably almost as annoying as someone posting "hey, I've got the album, it's as great as you'd hoped and you can't have it"
Fair point. Btw sorry I stopped using the amazing avocado pic you posted as my avi I hope we're still friends
Yeah this annoys me too. arent they watermarked anyway? That wouldnt be too hard to track down. whoever does that risks their trust with bands and could lose their privilege of reviewing albums.
I haven't even noticed that happen in here, but I probably wouldn't think much of it if people are just joking.
Alright quick track by track for my beloved @ChiliTacos You With Me- very interesting opener. almost church choir esque. Really sets the tone well. Sure And Certain- Very good single, very representative of the album as a whole imo It Matters- Lots of piano, very bass/drum driven. Has one of my favorite lines with "I think about us dancing, but its not something we do anymore" Pretty Grids- shades of Clarity on this track, dark and almost grunge-tinged. Pass The Baby- I was talking with Zac about this, probably going to be polarizing but its absolutely stunning imo. goes from this electronic beat to a heavy rock song at the drop of a hat and its immaculate Get Right- Probably my least favorite, very much the "Pain" of this album. good rock song You Are Free- My favorite song at the moment. great use of piano, very Futures/SOMST vibes. gorgeous The End Is Beautiful- a beautiful song tbh. slower, another Clarity influence track imo. love Jims melodies Through- My second favorite song I think. Deviously catchy but has some great lyrics like Zac mentioned above. Integrity Blues- This is another one I think is going to be divisive. Lots of focus on Jims vocals and lyrics. Works flawlessly imo, adds some diversity to these otherwise somber songs. Pol Rodger- Great closer. Does the album justice, builds beautifully and shows that 8 albums into their career and theyve still got the magic. one of those songs that just makes you envious of how talented this band is.
"It Matters" just kills me. "I imagine talks that last all night/I never bring it up but every day I want to" is probably my favorite line on the record. That song is just the perfect encapsulation of a relationship that has stopped working.
