Live vid + lyrics sent to me by a friend who works for a music site. I can already tell I'll cry at LEAST 5 times because of this album hahaha
damn i need more contacts lol. ive been a little down on the live version's chorus but the verses and prechoruses sound so nice so im holding out hope. also i remember before chase this light came out jim performed the title track in a live acoustic show. at first the only recording that was available had the acoustic guitar so low that you could mainly just hear the vocals. i listened and thought "oh god this is bad... im worried about this album"; then a few days or a week later, a better quality recording came out of the exact same performance and it was absolutely beautiful, and suddenly i loved the song. its amazing how your entire perception of a song can be altered by small mixing qualities. so it would be foolish of me to judge things this early, especially when i love sure and certain as much as i do.
oh and i caught the second half of You With Me through the back door of the venue where they were soundchecking it (didnt play it in the actual show though, booooo) and it sounded very nice, even as muffled as it was through doors and walls of the building.
I've seen them twice now, but I'm looking to change that asap Damage Tour 2013 The Gaslight Anthem and Against Me 2014
Next month will be my first time seeing them live! I just realized the shows are before the album comes out. I wonder how much new stuff they will play.
x2 Chase This Light Tour (2007) Bamboozle festival (2008) Clarity tour (2009) x2 Invented tour Bamboozle festival (2012) x2 Damage Tour (2012) Futures Tour (2014) I can't help but think I'm forgetting something, but I think that's it. Jealous of you guys that saw them before '07. I wish I was paying more attention to them at that point.
I think I've seen them five times since 2007. Anyone remember the acoustic tour that year? One of my favorites. It was actually the first time I was able to see them live.
Hope technology continues to be awesome and continue on helping people with that sort of stuff. I would be really sad.
My sister is deaf, she loves going to concerts for the bass + visual show itself. She's also got a cochlear, so there's a certain sense of music to it as well. Very different from what we understand as sound, but it's something!
I'm a massive GGD fan, which is why the past few albums have been so disappointing. And that wasn't meant to be harsh on the potential of this album. I love Sure and Certain and the reactions so far have my hopes up dangerously high.
Although the comparison doesn't crush me, Goo Goo Dolls veered hard into soccer mom rock territory around 10 years ago - I think Jimmy Eat World has too much substance to ever really take the same path. JEW covering Big Machine would be pretty rad though.
Someone please explain me to me what soccer mom rock is because that is something I may be interested in
Barenaked Ladies ultimate soccer mom rock band. Them, Goo Goo Dolls, Train, Poison, The Fray, Lifehouse, Matchbox 20. Classic soccer mom stuff.
Where would you place You With Me among the great album openers JEW has delivered during their career?
