Love all the people with advances talking about the album, the hype machine is good for us and we're good for the hype machine
Crank the hype machine! I really like this. Unlike Zac and Jordan, I think the singles were perfect. "Sure and Certain" is definitely the lead-off track I would have chosen. Don't have a favorite yet. Will need more time to engage with the lyrics and stuff. But it's definitely a JEW album and it's definitely a great one.
More to come! "Pol Roger" is something isn't it? The bookends might be my favorites after two listens.
Yea. I mean, I don't mind it. I expect a few people to drop by with thoughts, but it seems like there are a lot of people that have heard it.
So all I have to do to listen to this album early is change my handle on the site to my full name, right? I need this.
I think from what I gathered in the lyrics it sounds more uplifting than heartbreaking. Then again 23 also broke my heart for the first several thousand listens and now I find it incredibly motivating and uplifting so maybe that's just where I am in life. That's the vibe I get from a lot of this record though: "Sure And Certain", "You are Free" especially.
I think this is my favorite song on this thing through 3 listens. Either this or Pass The Baby or Sure and Certain.
You are Free is also the most "standard Jimmy Eat World" song on here, while Pass The Baby is unlike anything they've ever done.
i'm not staff, but i'm writing about them soon. idk, i hate to look like i'm "advance bragging," i'm just really excited about the record and want to talk about it, but i also don't want to, like, aggravate people who are really psyched but haven't heard it, so i've been mostly trying to keep quiet. it's also, at the moment, kinda hard to classify imo. think i should probably not talk about it until another track is released.
I'd love to find some actual live recordings of JEW on YouTube without having to scroll through hundreds of fake livestreams haha.
Definitely a great track. Not musically, but I get a similar feeling from that song as I got from Goodness. Which is a great thing Yes
I havent listened to any of these so no idea on quality but ran into this site a few days ago Fishy Recordings - Jimmy Eat World
if you haven't already, you really got to check out American Football's album and New Leaves by Owen. Both are perfect albums for the fall.
Absolutely. Like @Craig Ismaili was saying, I get an uplifting vibe from a lot of the record. I think this one starts off crushing ("You With Me" might be the saddest song on the record) and then ends up being more of a recovery record. Obviously need more time with the lyrics to know for sure whether or not that's the case, but yeah, I think it's comparable to Goodness in the journey it takes you on.
