Not trying to win, I just remembered that there were two years between the self-titled and Static but forgot the two between Clarity and Bleed American.
Looks like there is going to be a shirt/vinyl bundle from their site (link not currently working) jimmy-eat-world Official Merch Store
Was just gonna say earlier that the world might end if they deviate from their 3 year release cycle haha.
Very nice. Love to hear that side of JEW on love never. Half heart definitely feels like an IB B-side
Good friends, may I inquire as to where you are hearing said songs at this time...? Are these getting a digital release as well?
I found them in a magical kingdom of leaks (how explicit can I get without breaking the rules?). Also they're on Spotify and iTunes now in the UK. Don't know about elsewhere.
these give me CTL era vibes. i rly like them. Love Never has a great rock riff and a slick chorus, it kind of reminds me of something like Big Casino or Firefight. Half Heart has that acoustic guitars over traditional rock instrumentation that songs like Carry You or Let It Happen have. this band can do no wrong
i think they were recorded after IB. the mixing sounds a bit DIY to me especially the vocals sound similar to the vocals in the acoustic 12.23.95 release from christmas last year that i presumed was recorded in december when they were in studio. i very much doubt these were recorded during IB sessions, nor mixed by justin meldal johnson. but they could have been written in the IB sessions and recorded later.
Not sure if this means a whole lot but they posted a picture to Instagram a few weeks ago with some unfamiliar song titles in the background on their rehearsal whiteboard I can make out "Real Talk" and I can't think of what songs the others around it could be. Could be nothing though!
the whiteboard was visible in a video a while back and i noted down the titles written on it: "and theres a frame in it that shows some numbered song titles from the integrity blues pre-production sessions: 1. Real Talk 2. Ginger Rock 3. Get Right 4. Integrity Blues 5. It Matters 6. Master Class 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. Sure and Certain 13. Violator 14. The End Is Beautiful" edit: quite wonderfully, the instagram post fills in some of the gaps in my list, with pass the baby, pol roger, you with me, you are free
Thanks for the info. I guess I get my "produced by" and "mixed by" a little confused. So my interpretation would be that Meldal-Johnson contributed to the recording, additional sounds and ideas, and initial mixing, and then Ken Andrews took over the "fine-tune" mixing, or something like that. I guess there are a lot more hands that go into putting together a big budget album, so producing and mixing aren't necessarily the same thing. Edit: That's fine to be a credits nerd. I'm a bit of a Jimmy Eat World nerd so any new information is welcome.
from 14th december 2017 on the whiteboard titled "new work", under a heading that says "demo", they have written the title "Love Never". so i think we'd be right to think the song is fairly new and not from the IB sessions, at least the recording of it anyway. I remember seeing this post and thinking "are they working on a new album/song called Love We Are?", but i can see now that it actually says Love Never, with a gap in the handwriting.
