Lol that guy has just been avoiding this thread ever since huh. His profile says "last seen today at 10:16 am"
After being just sort of lukewarm on this last year it's grown to be my favorite jimmy eat world record and may have jumped into my top ten from last year
For me this record is going to be so great for summer nights on my porch. I think secretly I always knew that too
Yeah I'm skepticle on this also but I think some dude sent a photo of his confirmation for the EP.... I'll be willing to share my Wet lab songs if someone was willing to share the EP
So, I'm doing a fun little project involving every JEW album and I need just a little help. What kind of song topics have JEW covered over their long tenure? Theres obvious ones like love lost and self improvement etc. But what are some other topics or lyrical themes that some of you have picked up on that might not be obvious or are sometimes overlooked? I'm going through the entire catalog starting monday so some early ideas to keep in mind while listening would be a big help.
That seems cool. Off the top of my head I remember my best theory being about individuality and being an individual or something like that. But anyway this seems cool. Kind of on topic does anyone else find tom's lyrics more abstract? (I'm assuming that whoever sings lead vocals writes what they sing).
You probably already know about Jim writing from different perspectives on Invented, but that would be fun to dig into. Some Futures stuff seems like moving on, growing up, etc. (Work, 23)
Jimmy Eat World is such a goddamn class act. Literally just got home from seeing them for the first time and it was amazing. Their keyboard player can hit some crazy high harmonies. Halfway through Blister a dude crowd surfed, hit the ground and didn't get back up, so Jim stopped the song and had people get out of the way of authorities. Then they finished out on the last chorus. (Dude is okay, he walked out of the venue.) Such a great setlist, I was very happy with how much of Integrity Blues they played even if the crowd was giving them a bit of "Yellowcard Syndrome." During the encore, Jim said they went back and discussed how we're the first crowd to sing along AND clap in time to Pass the Baby (the breakdown killllllled live). I got one of Jim's picks as well, so I have a setlist from his acoustic tour, a pick, and a signed Get Right single artwork poster. Sorry for the long post, this band means a lot to me and I'm very very happy right now. Oh, and It Matters was dope live, even if I was the only one who knew the words.
The more IB material the better. It's been nearly three years since I last saw this band and I'm seeing them on less than three weeks. Can't wait
I am so excited to see these dudes again and this time with Incubus. I literally haven't seen them since the Pop Disaster tour haha. Something always came up and I wasn't able to see them or it was always bad timing on my end. I am golden this time (Knock on wood). One of my biggest regrets....not being able to see them on the Futures 10 year tour.
I'll admit that I'm not the biggest Clarity fan, but I know all the words to every JEW song post-2000
