I often though the peacock feather looked a bit like a flame on a candle wick. Alternatively the deep blue inside part looks like a dark valley. I think the band just liked the vibrancy of the peacock feather and I don't think there's any deeper meaning. I seem to remember Jim saying that when the album first came out but I could be making up false memories there.
Big Avocado Let Avocados Happen Always Be (An Avocado) Carry Your Avocado Electable (Give Me an Avocado) Gotta Be Somebody's Avocado Feeling Like an Avocado Here Goes the Avocado Chase This Avocado Avocadofight Dizzy (can't mess with that song)
Wow. Both of these new songs are incredible. Sure and Certain is absolutely amazing, but I have to be honest - out of context I might give the slight edge to Get Right. I love the energy of it, and something about it just feels a little heavier for them, even though as people have pointed out they have gone pretty heavy before. These two songs have me really excited to hear the rest of this album. Just the whole aesthetic and now hearing these songs - I can't remember feeling this giddy about an album coming out in a long time. I really really really cannot wait to hear Pol Roger given this band's track record with closers.
The music video for the best JEW B-Side EVER (They did a segment on Yo Gabba Gabba - song title "Beautiful Day") Punk AF I know
I like the album cover for this, but I still wish that the art for "Get Right" had been the art they used for the album cover.
Get Right and Sure and Certain both have better art IMO. But I get that they would need to use a slightly different presentation (ie. larger, centred font) for the album art to differentiate it from the singles. It's a shame though that the album art doesn't have the filtered/interesting/retro colours and appearance.
I'm assuming that goes for people who already preordered a week or two ago or whenever they first put it up?
I saw JEW on the Invented tour and I was about 3 people deep from the stage. Still the best sounding live band I've ever heard. Not only was the playing top-notch, the tones and mixing was beautiful. Made me wonder if they've had the same sound guy with them for a few tours.
"Sure And Certain" is at #38 on the Mediabase Alternative Chart! Not a bad start - it took "I Will Steal You Back" ages to make it that far.
*Hopes and prays they're recording a BBC Studio session today* not sure if itll show embed, but on the app it says he's at BBC Studios Maida Vale today
Hoping to hear some other new songs but I doubt they will record anything other than Get Right and Sure and Certain.
Jim Adkins still looks so good after all these years just throwing that out there. Hes aged the best of the emo frontmen of yesteryear dont @ me
