That's mostly true, I just would've loved to see "Sure and Certain" fleshed out into something other than cartoons and ballerinas
I think the average fan of the band a decade plus ago who was into their singles stopped following their type of music which is why their surprised they've released a new album.
to most people JEW are the middle and maybe sweetness or pain. Like, I once had on Futures in my car and my roommate who exclusively listens to radio rock and Rise Against (and inexplicably once put on Knuckles by Moose Blood....I can only assume he had a type with royal blood or whatever that shitty band is), and he knew it but like, people get surprised when I say that JEW are probably my favorite band. in summary, there's probably little desire on RCA's part to push this record that much because of JEW's reputation that would make most people say "they're still around?" or "they're back?" if S&C ended up in the mainstream. But Flynt Flossy did the video so does anything else matter?
I took a friend to go see them during the Chase This Light tour and he called it a "throw back" concert. I'm like, they are still current, man! Haha And that was like 08? 07? Imagine what the casual mainstream fans think now.
When I first played JEW around my girlfriend (which was Bleed American) she disliked it because it reminded her of the really bad radio rock from that time period and also thought it was dated. Luckily, she changed her mind on that.
I just read a lot of pages from this thread and jumped to the end because I must say something: WTF Guys Static Prevails is like top 5 JEW (it sits at 4 in my rank) you guys break my heart :(
Static Prevails is worth checking out especially if you're into the 90s emo scene. Not great but has some good songs on it. Never checked out self-titled as I've never heard a good thing about it.
I enjoy Static Prevails a good amount-- and still listen to it a few times a year. It also somehow makes me appreciate the rest of their discography more. Kind of want to put it on now after talking about it...
Thinking That's All, Anderson Mesa, Call It In The Air, Seventeen, fucking ROBOT FACTORY I love Static Prevails so much Maybe because I love that 90's punky emo
I'll only listen to Static Prevails once or twice a year. But usually if I'm in the mood for JEW (which is a lot), I'm going to put on on something post-SP.
Not sure if anyone else bought tickets to the Incubus/JEW tour, but I received an email today for an EP download. It's titled Are You Listening and has 5 songs. 1. Get Right 2. Sure and Certain (Acoustic) 3. Always Be (Live ft Hayley Williams) 4. A Praise Chorus (Live ft Davey VonBohlen) 5. Hear You Me (Live ft Courtney Marie Andrews)
