was reading somewhere that jim said they write all the music before doing any lyrics/vocals and for some reason that really surprised me
to build on that, I remember reading an interview where Jim said he would demo the drums himself and then build a really basic demo on that and bring it to the band for the recording process. This might've changed with IB, but its really interesting.
Just got around to listening to this today on my commute to school and wow I really enjoyed it on the first listen. And Jim Adkins is fuckin dope /thread
I am only really casual on Nate Ruess. Only heard each fun. album and his solo release once, but I think they were all solid. I'm gonna be honest though, I mostly know him from the Anthony Green song he was the main vocalist on. haha
I'm really into The Format, but that's about it. What I heard from his solo record didn't do much for me. Not that we have to pick sides, but I'm much more of a Jack Antonoff guy. haha
Nate is probably the more "technically proficient" vocalist than Jim, but I prefer Jim and think he's better at emoting. Plus, it's not like either one of them is lacking in range.
Random information: every album since Bleed American, except Invented has a song with the word 'You' in the title. You could make an entire album with songs whose titles contain either the word 'you', 'me' or have both 'you' and 'me' in them as there are 11 songs of that nature: believe in what you want if you don't, don't the world you love carry you i will steal you back you are free for me this is heaven drugs or me hear you me how'd you have me you with me
