"Carry You" has always been a favorite of mine.. but it wasn't until recently that I realized what really helps make that bridge so powerful. Right after the "roll down the windows" line, the background vocals repeat "just to feel" over and over again. Such an incredible build of tension, energy, and emotion right there.. love it so much. Perfectly produced
I was kind of being sarcastic.. but just noticed that if you actually do search the thread for "Feeling Lucky" you'll find that the only previous positive comment about the song came from me haha. "Electable" is a great one too..
It's literally their 4th most played live song behind The Middle, Sweetness, and Bleed American, all of which came out 3 years earlier. I don't understand this comment lol
Sometimes I forget that "Stay On My Side" exists and then I remember how good it is. "Half Right" anyone? Love that song.
Most underrated songs - "Lean" - One of my favorite songs on Damage, I remember reading comments here when it came out and I was taken aback by how little love it got. It's a perfect 90's throwback jam. "Just Watch the Fireworks" - Ok, so yeah, it's a well loved song that makes up part of the absolutely perfect middle section of Clarity, but I feel like For Me This is Heaven always steals its thunder. The chugging guitars backed by those urgent strings and Jim's wailing voice is just magic here. "Stop" - Back when the Chase This Light demos were leaked this song was an immediate favorite to many, and then when we found out it wasn't on the album we were kinda shocked. It turned up later on Invented with an asterisk from Jim that it wasn't exactly the same song. The vocals got female accompaniment and the guitars in the chorus evolved from a spindly riff to a soaring echo. I think the song got lost in the cinematic ambience of Invented. Was the demo better? Maybe, but this is still a great and underrated entry in their catalog.
"Closer", what a song. That must be underrated bc I never hear about it (just SOMST as a whole). "Touch and taste fades with space" is so heartbreaking to hear
I really like the guitar solo in "Stop." And "Closer" and "Over" have to be two of their most underrated songs, for sure. I'm not sure if I would call this one underrated, but it took me a really long time to fall in love (ha) with "The World You Love," and ever since it clicked with me I've felt like it's one of the band's best songs.
Expected to sell 12-14k copies in its first week. The heavily flawed 'Sales Plus Streaming' model will stop it from going top 15.
