"The End is Beautiful" has a Celtic limmerick melody to it, and now I want to sing that song in a bar full of happy drunks who love Jimmy.
In jim's letter he called ib their 9th album. That means he included the s/t. That said, they don't play anything from it an they never reference it by name so I'd say what you've got is more or less complete
It Matters kill me every time like " kill" did on futures . Definetly one of my favorites Jimmy eat world song.
First thoughts on the tracks I hadn't heard yet: - It Matters compares very well to Polaris - pulsing bass line, slow burner. Good song. - Pretty Grids is interesting. For a minor key, it's very bouncy and uplifting. Nice. - Pass the Baby initially reminds me of the dark tones of Disintegration or Get It Faster, and that ending is straight Coheedy filthiness. Leads really well into Get Right, actually makes it more palatable as a track that I wasn't a fan of. - The End is Beautiful is, no doubt, beautiful, but it's not grabbing me on first listen. Reminds me of very sparkly, polished JEW tracks I've already heard before - it would fit well on Chase This Light. I think it will grow on me though. Really nice vocal performance on this one too. - Through is immediately a great song. Something about it reminds me of Promise by Eve 6. I wish I could say I felt more substance from it though. - From the descriptions, I thought I'd get a Bon Iver-"Woods" feeling from Integrity Blues, and minus the Autotune I do. These guys are great at experimenting and I wish they'd do it more. - Not gonna lie, Pol Roger is not sticking with me. It's a typical JEW closer, in fact I feel like I've heard part of the song somewhere before in their discography. I just didn't find it an engaging melody, but obviously there will be more listens.
My top of albums: Clarity Futures Stay on my side tonight (yeah, I know) Integrity Blues (it may change over time) Bleed American Static Prevails Chase This Light Invented Damage Jimmy Eat World Static Prevails needs more love though.
just wanna give some quick shouts to Justin Meldal-Johnsen behind the boards for this thing. They just sound incredible here. Totally a step up from the (imo) muddled production that brought Damage down a bit for me
It kill me then it destroy me haha. More serious wasn't you that said few days before that pretty grids is your least favorite ? Cause it's mine too.
Yeah, that's kind of a "if I had to pick a least favorite, it would be this." I think it's a cool song and I'm glad they included it and experimented with that vibe, but it's the one I connect with least on here.
Didn't love Pretty Grids on first listen but sounded like a different song second time around, overall very impressed with how strong of an album this is and don't think there's a bad song here
My Enemy wouldn't fit in on this record at all (maybe in place of Get Right but that's about it), so I understand why they left it off.
Pretty Grids is good but yeah everything else is above it for me. It doesn't get much better than you with me, pass the baby, and through
I think this was the original track listing, and man I would not like this nearly as much as the album they ended up with: I think You With Me works much better as an opening track than Enemy would have. And Get Right is too early in the tracklisting on that one too.
If anyone has a Sure and Certain 7" going spare, please HMU :) I want to be, well, sure and certain I can obtain a copy!
Just listened to this while walking today, on my lunch break on a brisk autumn overcast day in suburbia...perfect.
i personally think swapping the end is beautiful out for it would have been a better idea. or pretty grids.
