Movielike is so good though! Ha, and so is Littlething, I can see what you say about the other two though
It's not though, and it doesn't mean it's a bad song, there's just no hook. My favorite band, The Early November, doesn't really write "hooks" per se either. They still write great songs, it's just that a majority of them aren't hook driven.
Really digging this song. Surprised they went back to the more Invented, "My Best Theory"/"Action Needs An Audience" heavier sound. Definitely doesn't sound anything like Damage. It's been three very, very long years without new music from JEW. Can. Not. Wait. Will probably be AOTY. Only competition would be if Brand New actually puts the album out.
This probably belongs in the Unpopular Music Opinions thread but I do not like Invented very much at all and this song sounds way more in line with Futures to me
This band just never stops killing it. I would have been down with, and unsurprised by, them pushing the Damage sound further but this doesn't sound like it, which is equally great, because they have been consistently great since Clarity. Invented is my least favorite by them not including pre-clarity, but I think the good still outweighs the bad on that album.
I really liked it. I couldn't stand how his voice sounded on the last album. This feels very promising.
Didn't like Damage, the first time I couldn't get into a Jimmy Eat World album. Not sold on this track either unfortunately, but will see if it grabs me.
The worst JEW song is better than 90% of the stuff that I come across every year. I'm stoked for this.
Yeah big casino was thei best single on their worst album I think. This ones chorus isn't quite doing it for me, but I do really enjoy the sawing guitars and more hard edged instrumentals.
That's a great first song from the album I guess, one of the best first impressions I've had on Jimmy's singles in years, and yes it does sound like they put some of their older sound in the mix.
Man, judging on the reactions, it's like they released two songs and half people heard one and the other half heard the other. I'm in the camp of "it's ok, but doesn't really engage me much"... maybe give it a few more listens. On a side note of unpopular opinions, "Invented" is my favorite JEW album followed by "Clarity".
Jimmy Eat World is my favorite band, and Invented is my favorite record by them. I cannot fathom loving the band and not loving that album. I hear more Futures than Invented on this track, but whatever it is, it's ridiculously good.
