I’ve actually never listened to Sparta. A song came on from Wiretap Scars, and I was digging the hell out of it
Rad, I'll check this out today or this weekend. Wasn't really into the most recent Sparta album but revisited the 3rd album. Better than I remember.
relistening to wiretap scars…. think this was the first “emo” album i ever liked, not that i was conscious of it in the moment. checked it out of my high school library bc i loved the cover art (? idk) and “cut your ribbon” and was fascinated by the atdi split. listened to it a ton (along with deloused) while playing pokémon
was thinking wiretap scars is just a really fantastic-sounding record and had completely forgotten jerry finn recorded it
Jim released a three-part album (built out of three EPs) "Quiet in the Valley, On the Shores the End Begins" in 2011. It's truly fantastic. I look forward to hearing this based on the merit of that alone...plus Sleepercar was amazing and most of the Sparta output is really good.
This album is much more of a rock record than Quiet in the Valley, which probably could have been a Sleepercar album. Daggers has more teeth than the most recent Sparta record. I think it's my favorite Jim Ward output since Threes.
