Jim and Andy: The Great Beyond (Netflix, November 17, 2017) Movie

Discussion in 'Entertainment Forum' started by Aaron Mook, Nov 6, 2017.

  1. "In 1999, Jim Carrey portrayed his idol Andy Kaufman in 'Man on the Moon.' For twenty years, the behind-the-scenes footage has been withheld…until now. 'Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond - With a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton' premieres November 17th, only on Netflix."

My most anticipated currently. Man on the Moon is a top five film for me.

He wrenches on it. He thinks it's his.

This is going to be fascinating. I cannot wait.

Andy Kaufman kinda flew past my radar. Is there a particular set or bit that I should see of his?

    His more notables are:

His Mighty Mouse bit from SNL
His press tour for women's wrestling
    Feud on The Tonight Show

    Thanks. I'll check these out.

  6. Definitely the Mighty Mouse bit and his feud on the Tonight show, but honestly Man on the Moon was my introduction to him and it was interesting viewing the actual footage of these events after viewing Carrey's performance, so I'd definitely recommend the film as well

I'm pretty sure I've seen Man on the Moon, but it's been so long I don't remember it well. I should probably revisit the movie and watch some of Kaufman's original bits before this comes out.

If you can get past Jim Carrey's newfound stoned college freshman philosophy, this is totally worth the watch (especially if you love Man on the Moon as much as me)

Really enjoyed this... I kinda liked how Jim was the sole interviewee regarding the production as it was from his own perspective while the actual behind the scenes footage spoke for itself.

This has got me on a filmmaking-movie kick. Everything on my watchlist got shuffled down to make room for American Movie, Burden of Dreams, Lost in La Mancha and Hearts of Darkness

  14. I enjoyed that a lot

This is amazing. Feel bad for anyone who worked on that set though.

So Jim is definitely doing another biopic before he calls it quits, right? Anyone you guys wanna see him play?

I was honestly hoping that after this movie came out he'd announce that he's been doing a Kaufman-esque bit, but I guess not.

There's still time. In my ideal world, him and Spike Jonze are up to something

Wasn’t Spike Jonze a producer on this?

I’m not confused but skeptical of this entire project after watching it

I think it’s more that this movie is the collaboration

Not sure what you mean. You’re let down that this is all the collaboration amounted to?
