Shocking to me that there's no Jessie Reyez thread. There's a lot of great music out today, but don't sleep on this project.

Jessie Reyez makes a moody blend of pop/R&B that has some roots in rap and Spanish language music, but very different from the mainstream sounds. She commands a wonderfully unique voice that has the smooth bite of a straight whiskey, with lyrics that are incredibly direct about sex and violence. It'll hook you from the get-go and take you to some good places if you let it.

I tried starting a Jessie thread a year ago and I was the only one posting haha

This album is so damn good. Odd that Figures is on here 2 years later, but its still a beautiful song so I can't complain.

FYI there are 3 bonus tracks on the Target CD release, and 3 different bonus tracks on the spotify deluxe released yesterday

Damn I'd order that signed vinyl if it wasn't the deluxe version. That new album art is hideous.

Checked out all of her shit yesterday after only really hearing her on Kamikaze and she's great, not at all what I was expecting. Super unique and versatile

She somehow added even more songs to another new deluxe version

I really like the two new songs. I think No One's in the Room is better than most of the original album.
Don't understand why she made a new track order, though.

@manoverboard365 the track order thing is a streaming thing that is very trendy these days. Lil Wayne just released a deluxe edition to his 2018 album, and the 10 bonus tracks are the first 10 tracks. Selena Gomez released a deluxe version of her album this year that had like, 4 new songs mixed in to the track list.

If you want to lose your goddamn mind, try being a fan of Mabel and following her release for her album High Expectations. I shit you not, she has added to the track list about 5 times, and it's always putting something new in track 1, its infuriating.

but it gets you streaming numbers. Instead of people just listening to the new single, the streaming platform them continues the rest of the album

Lol I guess we can also throw in Taylor releasing 4 "EPs" of her album's songs to also boost streams.
I get the two new songs being at the top, but why put the original opener as the second to last song, and the original closer in the middle? Oh well album still rules lol

Yeah the EP thing is another strategy too, I guess to break up a long album into parts since kids don't listen to full albums these days. Bieber did it, Lil Wayne, a few others along with Taylor. The streaming wars are real!

Just popping back in here to say that No One's in The Room is becoming one of my all time favorite Jessie songs. The lyrics and her cadence are so hauntingly beautiful.

Also realized the video never got posted here:
