Very excited to hear this Friday. All these songs have been somewhat growers for me, but I'm really digging them all. Between the new album, finally seeing her headline next month, my recent Rilo Kiley kick, and the Postal Service tour, this is turning out to be the year of Jenny Lewis for me
I feel like she's lost a lot of what made her an exciting artist for me. This album, and 70% of the last one, are just.... bland. She used to be a really exciting artist who pushed the bounderies, I mean just listen to Acid Tongue, unreal album that still doesn't really sound like anyone else. Nothing from the new album stands out, it's just kinda there. I think I just need to realize that she's probably past her prime as an artist, which is fine, and not get myself all hyped up anymore
she's obviously a very talented writer but her lyrical style the last few records just kinda rubs me the wrong way. idk.
I definitely get why not everyone is crazy about this, but I'm really enjoying it. It's been a grower, but I'm finding plenty to love. Title track is great
This is really getting a little better every listen. But Chain of Tears is especially fantastic. It's not my favorite of hers, but I kind of enjoy how breezy and short it is, especially after On the Line which drags a little bit for me after the first few songs
