pre-order: Jenny Hval - The Practice of Love – Rough Trade
New song is insanely gorgeous
This song is so fucking good. Exactly where I wanted her to take her sound after “Conceptual Romance”.
Yes! So far away but I’m potentially more excited for this than the record. Paradise Rot was such a great read.
Jenny Hval Announces New Novel Girls Against God | Pitchfork
Yo, this is amazing. We’re really getting Jenny Hval’s pop album. Wild.
This album is going to be something else
This is really, really good. Definitely her most accessible material but doesn’t feel like she compromised herself at all. Eager to dig into the lyrics, her words always evoke such strong and extraordinary images.
never listened to her before but I really like this.
You’d probably like her last album too, “Conceptual Romance” is definitely one of the best songs of the decade. Her stuff gets stranger the more you go back, but it’s all great.
Her very good (and very short) novel Paradise Rot was translated into English last year and is well worth a read too, if her lyrics are part of your interest.
Ashes to Ashes is SO good
Thumbsucker is real nice, damn
Thumbsucker is definitely the standout from the non-singles.
I really liked this and yeah, she’s very conceptual so I think my enjoyment will only go up when I read the lyrice/get an idea what she’s going for

The fact that Felecia Atkinson is on this makes it that much better.
This just gets better and better and I still haven't even given it a proper focused listen.
That’s what I call a headline

Ashes to Ashes rules. I'm enjoying this
Wow yeah it really picks up from Ashes to Ashes onward. I loved this a lot.
It's kept growing on me. I love the whole thing. I need to check out her other stuff.
This is definitely my favorite record of hers but they’re all fantastic. I low key think “The Practice of Love” is the best track on here.
Apocalypse, Girl has long been a favorite of mine but just now exploring her other material. Viscera is fucking amazing. Surely will eventually get to this one
Oh damn, I haven’t heard that one. All of her other records are so good though. I especially like the direction she’s taken with the last too. Definitely don’t skip The Long Sleep EP when you’re working through the rest, I feel like it generally gets ignored.
Also, I guess this one off from a few months ago never got posted here
Her new novel is out today! So excited to read it, loved Paradise Rot a whole lot.
Not gonna bother with a thread since there's not much interest for her stuff around here but the debut album of her Lost Girls project (duo with Håvard Volden), Menneskekollektivet, got announced today. Out March 26.
