the rainbow -> planet luxury -> hellllhooooole stretch is one of the craziest and best things of the year imo, haha. we got bang on the door into rainbow and i was so hoping we'd at least get the next few but one of the worst moments of the year was ending at rainbow haha.
The front half is 9 extremely good Jeff Rosenstock songs, the back half is a wildly exciting feat in punk music.
I don't think it's sacrilege to prefer Side A, although this thing rips front to back. I'm seriously in awe of how good this record is. I am constantly flipping on my favorite track on this, but I think it may be "I Did Something Weird Last Night." Just something about that earnest, honest, universal story of self-doubt after first hooking up with someone you like. You really hear the sincerity in his voice during those choruses.
Yeah, that's a situation that fills me with anxiety just thinking about it and I like how that gets conveyed in "I did something weird last night." Sometimes I feel like this album is not very cohesive lyrically but then I remember it's not trying to be something bigger and it's just Jeff's life and happens to end up a little bit bigger
Never Get Tired BTMI documentary is finally up for purchase. Easily worth the $5 in my opinion, I cried watching it.
Just watched it again with the commentary. I enjoyed it because it was just Jeff and John and Mike dicking around for an hour and a half, but probably don't do that if you're looking for any kind of insight. Very minimal information about the band in that commentary lol.
